Recently, my friend Tina and I were sharing opinions about new arrivals at a local store. One of the items was a light charcoal gray cotton floor-length skirt. Looked like a sweat suit to me…. but Tina saw much more potential. “You never put Bright Yellow and Gray together?” she asked… Well, long story short, Tina purchased that blah skirt, paired it with a bright yellow t-shirt and denim jacket and it looks great on her.
Tina’s color combination was the inspiration for today’s Daffodil Delight and Basic Gray card for the Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge, HSSSC151.
Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper adds a pop of pattern to the clean and simple design inspired by the Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch #151.
The bottle cap accent was easily flattened by running it through the big shot die-cutting machine using the platform base (no tabs) and die cutting plates. Additional accents added: a 1” circle punch in basic gray, a 7/8” scallop circle punched from designer series paper, and a giant crystal jewel for a little bling! A bitty butterfly punched dsp scrap was accented with basic pearl jewels and attached directly to the card sentiment, leaving one wing free. The stamped image is from the free Sale-A-Bration stamp set “Madison Avenue”. Contact Me for more info on sale-a-bration freebies! The same stamped pattern from the card front was repeated inside the card, as was the strip of basic gray stitched taffeta ribbon. I think it needs some butterflies though… still a little too plain! What do you think??
Hope you enjoyed today’s sketch and challenge…. I look forward to reading your comments.
