New Baby Jacob… Two By Two Congrats

I’m a new Great Aunt!!  Yesterday baby Jacob Brien arrived in Knightdale, N.C. after a slight delay… Congratulations to my Niece Shannon and her DH Josh of Knightdale, N.C. on the birth of my new great nephew Jacob…. three weeks early.

In anticipation of Jacob’s arrival, I ordered the fun single stamp set Two by Two!  Just in time it arrived at my home here in Jacksonville, Florida!!  So… for today’s PCCCS11 challenge,  I had a little fun with this stamp set and coloring with my many marvelous markers!pcccs011-sharon_field_watercoloring

I really wish I were a better photographer, LOL… this card is REALLY CUTE in person!!  The Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper is a perfect backdrop for primary colors in blues and red!2twobytwo_image_Colored_using_Markers

The two by two animal filled ark was colored using re-inkers, a blending pen and markers to highlight certain areas.  The portholes in the ark were pierced using a paper piercing tool before adding silver metallic brads…

Wish I had punched the tiny flower from the itty bitty shapes punch pack and added it to the ark before completing the card… good old hindsight!!  Then again, this card is to celebrate the birth of a new great nephew, so I guess the flowers would be a bit out of place.3_closeup_markercoloring_twobytwo_Sfield

After water-coloring the waves beneath the ark, I used a blender pen to dilute the color a bit and the result is a very watery concoction.. kind of cool!

Faux stitching in the upper left corner was originally done with a white gel pen, but seemed to get lost on the patterned designer series paper.  After allowing the white gel pen to thoroughly dry, I went over the stitches with a midnight muse marker… still gets lost on the patterned paper, but it fits a bit better.

If you look closely at the elephant in the photo above, you will see that shadows were also added to the image using the fine tip of a bashful blue marker to add depth and dimension.

Now I know you’re going to ask… how did you get the prongs of the brad through the wooden button!!  The answer is:  I didn’t, LOL… although I could have reamed out the button holes using a bead reamer, it was far easier to just cut the legs off the polka dot printed in-color brads and re-attach same using a stampin’ dimensional aka pop-dot.

Silver glimmer paper adds a touch of bling that I think the new parents will appreciate…. Shannon does like bling!  Plus, it represents the sparkling water and sunshine, right?

6profile_view_baby_two_bytwo_Card_Sharon_Field Today’s card share will require a special mailer… it has dimension from the popped up die-cut focal image as well as the button/brad combo.  At worst it will require additional postage.  BUT, this one will probably be mailed inside a package so I’m not too worried about it.PCCS11_on_Createdbyu_Sharon_FieldHere’s the sketch for the paper craft crew challenge this week.. I  hope you’ll take a moment to play along, or at least pay a visit to the design team website to see other terrific cards and samples using today’s sketch!

Looking forward to reading your comments, and thanks for keeping the kids in your prayers!

This is a great card to use for expecting twins! I have a friend who will deliver twins and they don't want to know the sexes. So twin animals are just perfect. Afraid I'm going to have to CASE this card. I will put your URL on the back as inspiration! Thanks so much for the gorgeous card!
