Creating Cards 4 Club - Creative Process

The creative process is sometimes painful, isn’t it?  LOL… last Sunday I spent half a day trying to come up with one more card for the First Wednesday Card Club meeting, but kept hitting a brick wall!

With a goal of making a pretty club worthy fall card, I wanted to feature Natural Composition and Comfort Cafe Designer Series Papers along with new 7/8” cotton ribbon from the current mini catalog.fall full of blessings and four seasons cardThis was the first card I made… yuck!!!  Just didn’t scream fall to me!!  So… back to the drawing board aka stamp room I went..two dsp's and cajun craze card stock with twill tapeThe second attempt… more fall-ish but still not club suitable standard.todays tips for paper crafters: piercing twill tapeThe 7/8” Cotton Ribbon is similar to twill tape.  It was stamped with a sentiment from the Full of Blessings stamp set, dove-tailed and pierced to add brads.   The cotton ribbon was attached to the card stock and designer series paper layered base using double sided SNAIL adhesive, running it down both long edges of the 7/8” wide ribbon after cutting the dove tail.

Piercing cotton ribbon or twill tape to add brads can be a little tricky… here are a few tips:

Today’s Tips for Paper Crafters:

  • Use the Paper Piercing Essentials Pack, Stampin’ Pierce Mat and fine tipped mechanical pencil to mark the ribbon where you need to pierce.
  • Remove the template and use the paper piercing tool to pierce at the pencil marks… push it past the tip of the tool so the wider part of the shank makes a larger hole.
  • When you remove the paper piercing tool, the hole will almost completely disappear… but your pencil mark will serve as the perfect guide to insert the brads and find the pierced card stock and/or paper pierced holes. stamp off technique, 1" circle and 1-1/4" scallop punch

Still going for that colorful fall foliage feel!  Very Vanilla card stock was stamped in Cajun Craze ink repeatedly using the pretty scrolled leaf image from the Four Seasons Hostess Stamp Set!

The stamped sentiment was punched using a 1” circle punch and layered onto the new 1-1/4” scallop circle punch found on page 7 of the new mini catalog… LOVE the new punch and ability to more closely layer some of our punched images, don’t you?

I still wasn’t happy with this card… it’s better, but needs something more.  I think I know what it is and may tackle it again this morning, LOL.

I look forward to reading your comments, and hope you have a lovely weekend…. tomorrow’s card is another twist on the fall variation… see you then!

Hugs,

Sharon
