Super Saturday: Embossing Dimensionals!

Welcome to Super Saturday and sorry for the late post today… yesterday just didn’t seem to hold enough hours for everything that needed to get done!!  (Sorry, about the coffee two days in a row Esther!)

For today’s tutorial, you’ll need the following tools:

  • Stampin’ Dimensionals (aka “pop dots”
  • Heat Tool
  • VersaMark Ink
  • Embossing Powders (I used Iridescent Ice, Pewter, Clear and Silver)

LOL… this is something I played around with in early June but just made the card this morning!  I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the embossed dimensional dots… and got up at 4am to make my card!the tutorial shows how to emboss dimensionals

Three four stamp sets and images were used to make today’s embossed dimensional dots card…

  • By The Seashore
  • A Word For You
  • Wood-grain
  • Summer Silhouettes

faux cheesecloth background

I hoped that coloring in the center of the tiny flower from the summer silhouettes stamp set would make it look more like a starfish… but I don’t think so!

The background technique is from another Super Saturday Tutorial for Faux Cheesecloth.LOL.. rock crab... get it? Yes… I cut out the crab and popped it onto the card with a stampin’ dimensional dot.  But, aren’t these dots fun?  Here’s how!

Step by Step…

Embossing Dimensional Dots, it’s Quick and Easy too!

  1. Grab a flat of stampin’ dimensionals and peel back the protective layer from as many dots as you want to emboss.
  2. Pour embossing powder of choice over the sticky surface and heat with a heat tool.peel the dimenional paper back then add ep
  3. If you are using iridescent ice embossing powder, finish by tapping the heated (but cooled) dots with Versa Mark Ink and a layer of clear embossing powder and set with your heat tool!apply versamark to iridescent ice powder

Experiment with other powders… this one is pewter embossing powder:alternative powders... pewter rocks!

And once it is heated…remove embossed dimensionals and attach to card stockI decided to put them onto basic gray card stock because it added some depth… and made them look more like rocks or stepping stones.tearing makes it appear more realistic along the edges.

Here they are side-by-side… from left to right…

  • iridescent ice and clear ep
  • silver ep
  • pewter ep (my favorite)

LOL… a few weeks after playing round with embossing the dimensional dots, I received a tutorial for a different way to use dimensional dots from Splitcoast Stampers by Trudy Sjolander!  Trudy’s Pixel Embellishments Tutorial is quite fun and uses the dots with paper en tact… check it out!  LOL, I haven’t tried that yet but probably will soon!

Have a great stamping day, and thanks for stopping by my blog.  I look forward to reading your comments!
