SQSC46 Celebrate Today and Our Country!

For today’s Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge, the Design Team was asked to use the designated sketch along with patriotic colors:  Red, White, and Blue!  I had something else floating around in my head for this sketch but quickly adapted to the request… After all, it is Independence Day!SQSC46_Sharon_fieldToday, the first Wednesday Card Club is celebrating the Fourth too!  We’re having an old fashioned cook-out and making cards too!  I’ll be sharing those cards next week… since they are not red white and blue!use a sharpie marker and card stock straight edge to stripe silver glimmer paperAfter exploring a few options for red and white striped paper, I settled on Silver Glimmer Paper which was striped using a piece of card stock as a straight edge, and a sharpie marker to quickly eyeball and stripe the glimmer paper.  It’s really cool and sparkly too!retired star punch with brad centers on red/white/blueUsing the sketch as my guide, a stripe of Red, White and Blue card stock was added across the card just below the sentiment “Celebrate Today”.  “Celebrate Today” is from the Perfectly Penned stamp set and stamped with Midnight Muse Ink.

Here’s a tip for punching silver glimmer paper which I have shared before:

  • To punch silver glimmer paper, the glimmer surface should face the outside of the punch hole!

The stars used on today’s card is a retired stampin’ up! star punch… which I’m glad I held on to because it is great for making birthday and congratulatory cards as well!SQSC46_on_Createdbyu_BlogspotHere’s the sketch for today’s challenge… you can see I changed it up a bit, as usual!   LOL, I look at several sketches and then sit down to mass produce for the design team and have to check when I’m done to make sure what I’ve designed isn’t too far off the original idea!

We’d love to have you play along with the Stampin’ Queens Design Team this week… you know the drill!  Create a project using the SQSC46 sketch and then upload to an online gallery or blog using SQSC46 in your keywords… then visit the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge Blog to add the URL of your card at the bottom of today’s post.

Have a very happy and safe 4th of July!  I look forward to your comments!

Hugs,

Sharon

Love your patriotic card Sharon. I didn't know you could use a sharpie marker to make the strips. You are so clever! Have a nice holiday!
