Welcome back! It’s Wednesday so it’s time for a new challenge from the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge Design Team! I’m still busy making Christmas cards with new sneak peek products from the upcoming release of the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalog 2012 and having so much fun!!
Today’s card features two new stamp sets, and some new terrific tools too! LOL, and I made the card two ways… I’ll show you the re-make first!
Stamps: Greetings for the Season and Scentsational Season
Papers: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Be of Good Cheer DSP (LOL resisted adding silver glimmer paper for once!)
Inks: Early Espresso, Red Sharpie Marker (non-su)
Terrific Tools: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Holiday Collection Framelits, Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
Awesome Accessories: Rhinestones Basic Jewels
Don’t you just love these ginger bread men?? They make me smile!! The background crumb cake card stock was embossed using the fancy fan folder…. ginger bread and fancy fan just seems like they needed each other, LOL!
The gingerbread men were stamped using a brand new firm foam early espresso ink pad… so the coverage is fabulous. As an extra precaution, I pre-sanded the slick solid gingerbread image using a sanding block. Sometimes in the manufacturing process there is a bit of residue remaining on red rubber which resists ink, so I like to give it a quick sanding.
Isn’t this “Merry Christmas” elegant? Love the script!! It’s part of the Greetings of the Season stamp set found on page 8 of your new holiday mini catalog. Other sentiments include “Peace on Earth”, “Noel”, and “Greeting of the Season”. Peace on Earth has always been my own personal favorite Christmas greeting!
Here’s my first attempt at today’s challenge and card… kind of blah… after staring at it for a few minutes I realized it just needed a little more pattern and color… hence the re-make!
Quite a difference just a little more pattern and color can make, right?
Here’s the sketch for today’s sqsc49 challenge… we’d love to have you play along with the design team… you know the drill!
Have a really great day full of fun and creativity! I look forward to your comments!
Hugs,
Sharon
