Triple P’s–CAS Poppies and Papillion!

Today’s quick and easy card is going to take a tiny bit longer to construct than most as it uses a couple techniques and fussy cutting along with three stamp sets… Papillion Potpourri, Pursuit of Happiness, and Pleasant Poppies!  I hinted at three p’s for the stamp set names, lol… it’s actually five isn’t it? Winking smile

Pleasant Poppies was immediately on my must have list of stamps from the newest Stampin’ Up! catalog… I’ve always loved poppies and this large format stamp set is just too darned cute!1.pleasant_poppies-fussy-cutand-colored-with=diamondsTo color the poppies, I used new in-color 2012 stampin’ write markers along with additional colors from different marker collections.summer starfruit and primrose petals colored embossed poppiesFirst, the pleasant poppies image was inked with versa mark ink, covered with black stampin’ emboss powder and heat set.  Then the poppy centers were colored using a Summer Starfruit marker, then outer edges using Primrose Petals marker.highlight with raspberry ripple and blend using primrose petalsThen I went back in and highlighted areas using Raspberry Ripple marker before blending the edges where the two colors met using the Primrose Petals marker.  I was quite surprised at how well the colors blended!versa mark, dazzling diamonds and heat n stick appliedAfter coloring the poppies using a versa marker, Heat ‘n Stick powder was heated to set and then dazzling diamonds applied and heat set too.color in the poppy stems with gumball green

Stems were then colored using a gumball green marker.  LOL… having embossed the image, it was much easier to stay inside the lines even when using the brush tip of the stampin’ write marker!three stamp sets, fussy cutting and embossing along with white gel pen techniquesThe butterfly image from Papillion Potpourri was stamped in basic black ink, colored using bashful blue, baja breeze and midnight muse ink along with accents from a white gel pen.  LOVE the new butterfly punch, don’t you?  The punch of course doesn’t capture the tiny butterfly antennae… so I simply drew them in place using a midnight muse marker.

Both sentiment (Pursuit of Happiness) and butterfly were then attached to the fussy cut poppy image and card using stampin’ dimensional ‘pop dots’.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card and yesterday’s SUDSOL blog tour!  If you missed the tour, simply scroll down to the next post to check it out!
