SUDSOL Blog Tour And SQSC 43 - CAS Cards

Today’s the BIG DAY!!  The SUDSOL Blog Tour is a one day tour featuring clean and simple (CAS) cards by SUDSOL members / SU! Demonstrators.  SUDSOL (SU! Demonstrator Support Online) can be your lifeline of support for your business… with a library of free tutorials/patterns/photos with step by step instructions and a gallery of ideas as well as business support.

So… are you following along on the blog tour?  Did you check out  Christyne’s blog and cool samples?

LOL, I actually took advantage of the free trial twice before actually joining the group… there are a ton of ways to get your membership free too!  Click the Join Me on Sudsol link HERE to begin your free two week trial.

As stated before, the theme of today’s SUDSOL Blog Hop is Clean and Simple, ‘demonstrate-able’ a.k.a. 5-minute cards.  AND as a bonus, today I’m sharing a NEW CAS technique with two variations for the technique as well.P1130822This CAS card features the new argyle Textured impressions embossing folder and Serene Silhouettes stamp set.  You’ll never guess how I colored the background embossing… it’s a very simple and easy thing to do, no special tools needed!P1130821After coloring the tree image from the serene silhouettes stamp set with gumball green and early espresso markers, it was stamped DTP (direct to paper).P1130821 - CopyAnd cleaned before inking with a new firm foam pad then…

  • Inked the tree image with early espresso ink (new pad)
  • Stamped off onto the embossed background multiple times before re-inking and stamping again.

The result was this wonderfully distressed background… pretty cool!  But that make me think… what if??P1130823So I made this card using another image from the same stamp set along with primrose petals and gumball green markers.P1130825I just love this image don’t you?  P1130823 - CopyInstead of cleaning off the stamp, I just stamped onto the argyle folder background until the stamp was just about clean, re-inked with primrose petals and gumball green markers before stamping again.. until all the ink was gone!

Tip:  hold the stamp in the same vertical alignment as you stamp off multiple times… this will keep the pink colors toward the top, and green towards the bottom of the embossed card stock.

Isn’t it fun? P1130694

Have you ordered the new vintage buttons?  They’re sooo sparkly and will be a fabulous edition to your Christmas cards and d├ęcor… of course they’re a little bulky too.. but so very pretty!  This is my card for today’s Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge, SQSC43.P1130693

I almost hate to put thread in them, it just distracts from the pretty reflection!P1130695 - Copy

Layered punches are an easy way to add sentiments to cards!  With all the cupcakes in the background, this one just HAD to be a birthday card!P1130692

Sadly, I will miss this beautiful satin ribbon… I still have a ton of it and will continue to use it on some cards, too pretty to waste!SQSC43_on_Createdbyu_Blogspot

Here’s the sketch for the Stampin Queens Sketch Challenge!  Hope you’ll play along with the design team this week.. you know the drill!
