Do you like lighthouses? The lighthouse image sold me on the uncharted territory stamp set, LOL… and now it’s retiring! I hope the new catalog has at least one lighthouse image if not more!!
Demonstrators will be able to see the new catalog beginning tomorrow… although most of us won’t have a hard copy until our sneak peek orders arrive, LOL…. and of course that may mean an ordering delay as all the US demos go online to crash the stampin’ Up! site… Of course that’s not our intention, but the site does get incredibly bogged down!
If you’re planning to shop my online stampin’ up! store… TODAY is the day you should submit your order for retired stamps and accessories… before the demos get online!!Today’s card showcases the lighthouse image from the Uncharted Territory Stamp Set along with a simple tiny “hi” from Fabulous Phrases, and the Versa Mark Water Color Wash Technique featured in yesterday’s Super Saturday Tutorial!
Basically I used the same re-inker colors: Bashful Blue, Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzazz, and Daffodil Delight. But… there’s a little twist to today’s Versa Mark Water Color Wash technique!!Before adding even the first wash of re-inker, the lighthouse image was ‘filled’ using a Versa Marker Pen! The windows were lost by the action, LOL… but I really liked the effect on the shadowy lighthouse!
It looks like a ghost lighthouse, right? If you look at the base of the lighthouse, you’ll notice there is color… that’s the area where I did NOT use the versa mark ink pen. The versa marker ink was applied in long vertical brush strokes, not sure if that accounts for the mottled texture of the lighthouse or not. After dipping the aqua painter into daffodil delight re-inker/water I touched the tip into bashful blue before painting the cliff beneath the lighthouse. A second application of color was added using pear pizzazz and the versa mark water color wash technique, finishing the texture with crumpled sandwich bag and tissue.
- Mini Library Clips… another retiring accessory that I personally love to use on cards and scrapbook pages!! The little “hi” sentiment was stamped using not quite navy ink, and punched with a 1/2” circle punch. Subsequent card stock layers were punched using 3/4” and 1” circle punches before attaching to the card front using a stampin’ dimensional!
- Background texture was created using the big shot die cutting machine and square lattice textured impressions embossing folder. The versatile Big Shot Die-Cutting machine would make a fabulous Mothers’ Day Gift wouldn’t it?? It’s a gift that keeps on giving all year long too… with an assortment of dies, embossing folders, etc.… it’s perfect for paper crafters and quilters too!
