Red Door Cards–Door Knob and Keyhole

Inspired by the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set, I decided to emboss the largest solid image stamp using versa mark ink and gold embossing powder.  The result was stunning, and reminded me of a doorknob plate… so my red door cards evolved!Everything_eleanor_red_door_number_one_sharon_fieldIn Asian cultures, a red door is deemed auspicious, symbolizing happy occasions.  I’ve always wanted a Cherry Cobbler colored front door… LOL, but it just wouldn’t look right against the gold brick of my home!gold embossing on poppy parade card stock for red door card number oneA Cherry Cobbler Antique Brad Layered Button serves as a door knob on the plate of the door.  I love the distressed worn look of the embossed image, don’t you?  The sentiment, embossed on Cherry Cobbler card stock provides a little contrast and definition against the Basic Black, Soft Suede, Poppy Parade and Mocha Morning DSP layers and was attached using stampin’ dimensionals.side way view with dimensionals of red door card number oneThe stampin’ dimensional “pop dots” raise the sentiment up, but still not higher than the button layered brad.  The corners on the sentiment were eased into a gentle curve using a sanding block… really easy to do for a gentle curve!4.keyhole_created using 3/4" circle punch and exacto knifeSo… I had a doorknob red door card, and that inspired me to attempt a keyhole red door card!free hand exacto knife cuts used to make keyhole after punchingThe keyhole was created using a circle punch, exacto knife or craft knife and the self healing mat from my mat pack (a favorite tool).keyhole red door card sentiment from word play on createdbyu_blogspotThis time a smaller sentiment from the “A Word For You” stamp set was embossed and punched using the large oval punch, backed with the scallop oval punch piece, and popped to the card front!

Tomorrow I WILL have the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge card ready to view… LOL, and I even know that it’s Wednesday!!   It’s been crazy busy here… hope life is treating you well!

Thanks for stopping by my online stampin’ up! store, every little (and sometimes big) order is truly appreciated!  I look forward to reading your lovely sweet comments!

Hugs,

Sharon
