Summer Smooches–A Tweed Pattern Winner!

Tweed or Harris Tweed is a traditional fabric pattern featuring columns of diagonal striped patterns.  Today’s card features the tweed patterned paper found in the new Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper Pack!

When I first designed today’s club card, I thought the tweed patterned paper would make a lovely paper ribbon banner… but then after making the ‘cuts’ I realized that a few more cuts would be more appropriate!tweed patterned paper with blue ribbon cuts by Sharon Field 040612

Isn’t this fun?  Like a blue ribbon banner, the tweed patterned paper is complimented by bright buttons and herringbone embossed whisper white card stock.Tweed_pattern_Cuts-Sharon_Field and bow tied buttons You can see how a few simple snips created a dramatic ribbon treatment… knotted bright buttons attached wtih mini glue dots to cardLOL I just had to make a couple more of these too!I couldn’t decide whether the bakers twine should be tied into a bow, or simply knotted…  Which do you prefer?wow you're the best from friendly phrases stamp set

“Wow you’re the best” fit perfectly inside the 1-3/4” circle punch, and is one of several phrases available in the Friendly Phrases Stamp Set!same layout fathers day with bow tied buttons 040612

LOL… just by changing the stamped sentiment to one from Delightful Dozen, the same format makes a fabulous Fathers’ Day Card too!Alternative sentiment from delightful dozen stamp set for a fabulous father's day blue ribbon card

The sentiment just barely fit inside the 1-3/4” circle punch, LOL… kind of a tight fit!happiest birthday wishes and same layout 4612

This medallion is from the Happiest Birthday Wishes Stamp Set… also a perfect fit for today’s tweed patterned blue ribbon club card!

Such great looking cards.
As for the twine; maybe tie in bow for ladies card and do just the knot for the guys but either way, it looks great.

Hi Sharon! Love your ribbon banner. Those cuts are outstanding! I like the buttons in knots best. What a cool design and one to customize based on stamps on hand or occasion.

I like the twine knotted--can be a femine or masculine card. The bows are pretty, but makes me think femine card.

You can tell a really good card when you can add different sentiments and it still looks great!

These are stunning! I am bow challenged so I go with knots.

I agree with Patrice H. You know a card works when diff sentiments work and work well. Love the bannering Sharon. You always inspire.
