SQSC34 Monochromatic Fish Net Favorite

A fun fish net embellishment and nautical theme fashioned for today’s Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge SQSC34 with thoughts of you!

Saturday’s tutorial features the Open Sea stamp set and faux Fish Net Technique -- Stampin’ Up! Style.  Have you tried it yet?SQSC34_Sharon_Field_createdbyu_Blogspot

Today’s card was difficult to photograph… mostly because it’s so overcast and dark here in Jacksonville, FL.  Wild fires and clouds… what a combination!!  LOL I had 4 bright lights turned on and still had a difficult time capturing the colors and textures on the faux fish net challenge card!P1120407

Four different card stocks were used on today’s card:  Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, and Naturals Ivory.

In the photo above, you see that many of the edges are sponged and distressed using the handy little cutter kit.  If you don’t happen to have a cutter kit, the blade of your scissors or SNIPS can do this too… just be careful when handling the sharp blade!

The corner was sponged and curled too, using a paper piercing tool and crumb cake ink.P1120404

Faux Fish Net was attached to naturals ivory card stock base by bunching in the center and securing with a small brad…. that left random fluffed edges flowing out beneath the bill of laden… which was also secured with two brads along the top most edge.P1120414

To highlight the stamped sentiment from Loving Thoughts, it was stamped with crumb cake ink onto very vanilla card stock… a bit brighter than the naturals ivory card stock, the sponged sentiment pops forward on the card.P1120410

Likewise, vanilla card stock was also used on the nautical compass stamped image.  A little rhinestone bling was added to the center of the compass too… just for fun!

On a personal note… sadly, our DD will soon be facing a fourth knee surgery.  Many of you are familiar with the traumatic times she’s had with her left knee due to sports injuries.  This time it will be her right knee, we’ll find out the extent of damage after the MRI… please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!!SQSC34

Come play along with the Stampin’ Queens Design Team this week!  Create a card or scrapbook page featuring sketch 34… have fun with it, change it up Winking smile if you want.  Then visit the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge Blog to add the URL of your design… you know the drill!  (If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!)

See you tomorrow with a fresh and fun CAS card for seniors… I think you’ll like the bright spring colors!

Hugs,
Sharon

Sooooooooooooo love this card Sharon. The faux fishnet was MADE for a card like this.
With regards to your daughter....I wish her all the best. I have been an avid netballer for 30+ years now and I am very familliar with knee injury. My baby sister has had a total knee recon on each knee after doing her ACL's. All the best for a good result and a speedy recovery.

So sorry to hear about your daughter having to face yet another knee surgery! Our prayers are with you all.
You've created another fabulous card with the fish net! I love the distressed edges, the rolled corner, and the use of the brads to attach the net.

Wonderful card Sharon! Almost reminds me of a map with the compass and the curled edge. I hope your daughter heals quickly. Will keep her in my prayers.
