In the Spotlight: Summer Smooches

Spotlighting… it’s a simple technique which highlights a small portion of a stamped image with color.  What a difference a small circle of color can make!!

Compare these two similar cards… with the spotlight…after the spotlighting and fabulous summer smooches fabric brad

and without the spotlight technique…before techniqe... plain card, and pearl vs. brad

You can find a complete step by step tutorial by Beate Johns at Splitcoaststampers on Spotlighting HERE.spotlight technique and link to splitcoaststampers

Basically, a second image was stamped, punched using a 1-1/4” circle punch, and attached to the card with two Stampin’ Dimensional Dots.stepped up flower with fabric brad and pretty ribbon

There is another subtle difference in this card too… did you notice the fun and colorful Summer Smooches Brad adorning the center of the Mixed Bunch punched flower?

The middle layer of the bloom is a Boho Blossom Punched Bloom from Island Indigo Card Stock.Pull tab to open/close card

The round tab punched sentiment also serves as a pull-tab to open and close today’s card spotlight technique club card.fancy fold measurements and open view of card

The 4.25” x 11” card base was scored using a simply scored board at 5.5” and 8.5” to create the fun fancy fold.

Tomorrow I’ll share a really fun card for the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge.  Hint:  I’ll be using my newest tutorial for >> faux fish net technique<< on design team card!!  Winking smile   Have you tried the technique yet?

I look forward to your comments, if you have any questions please use the contact me form and I’ll get right back to you!

Hugs,

Sharon

Sharon, this is a perfect example of how the spotlight effect really brings a card to life. Love the colours you have used here.

Very cute! I've always meant to do this technique, but never think to. I need to do this. Thanks for the reminder!

(Hanging my head in shame) I have never attempted the spotlight technique. It is such a simple thing to do and has such a wow factor. The cards are magical Sharon.
