Updating A Favorite Old Swap

Have you ever thought of recycling some of your hand stamped cards and images into more updated hand made cards?  Today’s card share does just that.  It is an update of a swap I received quite some time ago.  The focal image was cut from the older swap, down sized and added to a new card front for a fresh and updated look.

The stamped grass was covered with inks in sunset colors, applied with a brayer, I loved the original swap but needed a quick card for a friend, so updated it and made it my own (sort of!)P1090775

The cat tails were created using a slit punch (retired item) and then clear embossed to give them added dimension.

Today’s Tip For Stampers:

Substitution For The Retired Slit Punch!

  • Cut a narrow strip of card stock to 1/8” wide.
  • Cut the 1/8” wide strip into 1/2” lengths.
  • Use a sanding block to sand the corners, adding gentle curves on all four corners!

The butterfly was colored with an assortment of blue markers, white accent dots were added using a gel pen, and then the entire image was clear embossed too.  Unfortunately, this particular butterfly image is also now retired… but the butterfly in Flores Suaves would work as a good substitute!P1090781

The other two stamp sets used:  Teeny Tiny Wishes, and Inspired by Nature (both still current).  Don’t you just love the mini library clips?  they come in four metal colors, tis one has a brass color… perfect for the sunset card!

Tomorrow I’ll be sharing a really sweet and cute card using the Tea Shoppe stamp set, hope you’ll stop back by to say hi and take a peek!

Hugs,

Sharon
