Welcome to the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge Wednesday! The Stampin’ Queens Design Team is a new team devoted to bringing you wonderful sketches with layers! This weeks’ sketch features a tag, scallop circle background, and Designer Series Paper (DSP).
Taking cues from the fabulous and fun new Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper (#122357), today’s Sketch Challenge Card uses Blushing Bride, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla Card Stock.
Today I’ve complemented it with images from three stamp sets:
- Creative Elements (Clear Mount #122647)
- Flores Suaves (Wood Mount #112193)
- Kindness Matters (Clear Mount #122902)
And of course, you can order these exclusive stamp sets and other color coordinating supplies at my online stampin up store!
Faux Stitching, Chantilly Lace, sponging, and basic pearls… there’s a lot going on… let’s take a closer look…
The Very Vanilla tag was made using a tag corner punch. After stamping various images from the Creative Elements, Kindness Matters, and Flores Suaves Stamp Sets, it was sponged around the edges with Soft Suede Classic Ink, and layered onto a second tag with dimensions 1/8” larger.
A bit of Chantilly Lace was added to both card and tag…
And Basic Jewel Pearls were added to tag, stamped and layered butterfly, and along the edges of the Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper (DSP) as well.
A bit of faux zig-zag stitching along the bottom and top layers is just for fun, and was created using a mat pack and paper piercing tool along with a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker.
Finally, Versamark (watermark) Ink was used to enhance the Vintage Wallpaper embossed impression on the scallop circle, and to stamp the borders along top and bottom edges of Blushing Bride Card Stock.

“Enjoy” is from the “You’re a Gem” stamp set, and had to have it’s own bit of bling too… so I added a Basic Jewel Rhinestone to dot the letter “j”.
More silver glimmer paper scraps added to the bottom edge of the card… Dash-dash-dash to compliment the Polka Dot In Color Brads Dot-dot-dot.
Here’s today’s UDI51 prompt…
Pretty necklace, isn’t it?
The Whisper White card stock background was embossed using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and Big Shot Machine, and a narrow strip of Marina Mist Card Stock was punched with the open scallop border punch before stepping it up a notch with an 1/8” Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon and bow. But, the card was just “ok”…I even stamped the inside of the card…
It’s a get well card I made for a friend who happens to like Blue, but I still wasn’t happy with the overall appearance. So, when in doubt, add a bit ‘o bling!
It’s the same card, just “blinged up” a bit… what a difference a few rhinestones can make, right?

Hope you enjoyed today’s Super Saturday Stair Step Card Tutorial! Whew… this was a long post, sorry! Tomorrow’s post will be short and sweet with a quick technique and a Halloween Card too!
LOL, the background is NOT Designer Series Paper (DSP) or a large format background stamp… it’s simply dotted using a certainly celery Stampin’ Write Marker!
At one point, I realized that it was time to “step away from that card” and feathered out the dot density as I got away from the Elizabeth Stamped Focal Image.
I think you can see the dot frequency decrease in this photo. Elizabeth was stamped with Soft Suede Classic Ink.
After coloring the Elizabeth focal image with Certainly Celery and Peach Parfait Stampin’ Write Markers, “With Sympathy” was stamped using Early Espresso Classic Ink in the otherwise void center.
And the whole thing was finished off with a
I think the dotting added a lot to an otherwise plain card, don’t you? It was quite a mindless activity… I could just keep dotting while contemplating other projects, color challenges, and swaps!
Stamped images are from the Autumn Days and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, which I've paired with a scrap of Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).

The wheat was painted direct to stamp using Stampin’ Write Markers. First, a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker on the wheat, then More Mustard was pounced down the center, and finally the stem was inked with Soft Suede. As a final touch, to add some shimmer, depth and dimension, touches of Moonlight Smooch were added to the wheat and willows.

LOL.. I LOVE layers… and the sketches you’ll see from Stampin’ Queens will have plenty! Today’s card features SIX new products… can you pick them out?
A stitched felt “Winter Wishes” collection wreath, one of four felt designs in the 16 piece package… isn’t it fun? Behind it you may notice another new product, the new Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I ran some card stock vellum through my Big Shot machine using the new folder… isn’t it fabulous?
Fabulous Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper… WOW! I love the tree bark and plaid patterned papers, they’re great for Christmas Cards of course, but also make fabulous masculine cards as well!

The stamped image here is from the Occasions Alphabet set, which was new to the Idea Book and Catalog issued this month. Stamped with Garden Green Classic Ink, it was punched with a 1” circle punch, and then backed with a cherry cobbler scallop trim cut from a scallop oval punch. The Marina Mist card stock punched layer is from the Triple Doily Punch… it resembles a snowflake, don’t you think?
This will probably be a hand-delivered card, LOL overall it measures 5.25” x 5.25” and has lots of dimension.
Of course, it could be mailed with a nice Christmas Gift too, hmm…!
