SQSC12–Wood Sheet, Cork and Fall Flowers

Paper Daisies – Altered, jumbo brads, wood sheets, cork, and a little shimmer mist bling… put these craft supplies together and what do you have? A beautiful hand made card with fall colors and theme for today’s Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge Card! 1.main.sqsc12_sharon_fieldBefore cutting to size the wood sheet panels for this card, they were painted with a wash of re-inker mixed with just a couple drops of champagne shimmer paint. The ink colors I used were pear pizzazz, tangerine tango, and more mustard.2.friendly.phrases.glimmer.brad.embellishedFriendly Phrases is such a really fun rubber stamp set, don’t you think? Here, the sentiment has been inked with Tangerine Tango Classic Ink, and then punched with the Wide Oval Punch. The polka dot ribbon was turned upside down, and mini glue dots were used to position the legs of the bow ‘just so’.

There's already a lot of shimmer and shine going on with this pretty hand made card, but I just couldn’t help but add a little extra bling to an already stunningly shimmery card… and this glimmer brad seemed to do the job perfectly! The glimmer brad legs often are painted shut, but it’s a very easy situation to correct with a tool you probably already have with your other card making supplies... A paper piercing tool inserted at the base and then popped upwards… separates those painted legs every time!3.black_eyed_Susans_cork_Maple_LeafCork Sheeting and shimmered flowers…. well, shimmered cork sheeting and shimmered flowers! The medium paper daisies were down-sized by cutting into the ‘v’ towards the center of the flower and removing three petals. Two shimmer paint/ink painted flower petals were then over-lapped and glued with Multipurpose Adhesive.

When I first viewed today's sketch, I knew immediately that I wanted my hand made card to embody fall... fall colors, fall theme, and fall sparkle. For just a moment the flowers from the today's sketch were a speed bump... I wanted to make sure that the fall theme was carried throughout my challenge card. Giant 5/16" Neutrals Brads in Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla seemed to accomplish just that. The shimmered paper daisies remind me of a pretty Black Eyed Susan fall flower!4.fall_wash_Color-reinkers_SharonFieldThe cork sheet maple leaf was die-cut with the leaves #2 die, and then ‘sealed’ to enhance it’s beauty with Crystal Effects.  Once dry, Champagne Shimmer Paint was painted on the shiny surface, and settled into the divots and veins of the cork.5.SQSC012_Challenge_Sketch_On_Createdbyu_BlogspotSo... how do you approach card making with a sketch challenge? Do you copy the sketch verbatim? LOL, sometimes I do, and sometimes I just don't. When I look at a sketch challenge, I don't always follow it to the letter... but you already knew that!!  You can too!  Simply follow the bones of the sketch, creating your own special version… and then upload your creation… well you know the drill!

Visit the Stampin’ Queens Sketch Challenge Blog to see design team hand made card ideas too, I know you won’t be disappointed!

See you tomorrow with a new challenge from the Creative-Sketches Design Team!  We’re winding down for a holiday break, so you won’t want to miss the next couple sketches!

Hugs,

Sharon
