Celebrating Christmas at the Zoo CS55H

If you’ve ever been to the Zoo during the holiday season, you know that they celebrate with festive décor too!  Today’s Creative Sketches Design Team Challenge combines a sketch and a holiday theme.  This time I chose to use Christmas as my theme… with an added twist from the Zoo Review Stamp Set!1.CS55s_Sharon_Field_createdbyu_Blogspot

Ahhh!  Now you know where today’s blog post title came from!  I love using stamp sets I’ve collected in different ways, don’t you?  Wouldn’t this be a fabulous Christmas card for someone who works at the zoo… or to present a gift zoo membership to family, friends, or neighbors?

Basically a Black, White and Bling card… there are a just a few touches of color… and making this a very quick and easy card to put together!2.zoo_review.penguin.ormanent

This is the cute little penguin from the Zoo Review stamp set… I colored in his wings and head a bit with a Basic Gray marker.. his beak with More Mustard, and painted a Bashful Blue Shadow around him before punching him out.3.zebra_ornament_on CS55H

Like the penguin, the zebra was also painted in somewhat with a Basic Gray marker, and punched after adding a shadow.4.giraffe ornament from zoo review

Color was added to the Giraffe with a More Mustard marker too.  The edges of all three punched images were highlighted with a basic black marker, and then images were added to a Silver Glimmer Snowflakes from the Northern Frost Sizzlit Strip.

The Silver Glimmer Paper is a little tricky to cut with a sizzlit, as it has a plastic coating built into the paper.  I found that I could cut it easily with white backing paper facing the sizzlit cutting surface.  You may or may not need to add a shim to achieve a clean cut.  5.sentiment from comfort and joy

LOL, as if there weren’t already enough ‘bling’ on this card, a row of basic jewel rhinestones were added just below the “Peace on Earth” pewter embossed sentiment.

Both sentiment from the “Comfort and Joy” stamp set and Pewter Embossing Powder are from the current Holiday Mini Catalog.6.profile of zoo review CS55H b Sharon Fieldy

A little “bling” was added to the base of the white bakers twine ornament hangars too, just thought it needed a little ‘something’.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Zoo Review CS55H card!  Come play along with us!  Upload your holiday or occasion themed card to an online forum, blog, or gallery and then visit the Creative-Sketches Design Team to share the URL of your creation!7.CS55S_Sharon_Field

As you can see, I diverted from the sketch a bit…. LOL, but I think I already had enough going on without adding another ribbon, faux stitched element rounded corners.  (When’s the last time you read that on my blog?)

Have a great day!  I look forward to reading your comments and hope you’ll come back again tomorrow!

Hi Sharon! Ah, your card is so pretty! Love this one with the zoo theme. Great for giving a zoo pass like you mentioned, but also for any animal lover (maybe someone at the vet's office too). I like the simple lines and sparkle it has.

I love your card. I would have never thought of using animils on it. It's so pretty.

It is so cute....and my Mom, 84 yrs young, volunteers at the zoo in Melbourne, FL and has been around the giraffe lately, telling me about them the other day. I am sending her the pic of your card, cause that is one of the first stamp sets she ordered from the new catty. Thanks for inspiring.
