Today’s card is NOT a faux technique, faux sure… I promise! But it does feature Faux Wood Sheets and TWO technique applications and the Always Thankful stamp set from the current Holiday Mini Catalog!
That’s NOT faux wood in the focal image, it’s not designer series paper either! It’s actually wood sheet found on the base materials page 216 of the Stampin’ Up! Idea Book and Catalog 2011-12!
I love the way this card turned out so much that we’ll be creating it at my November Club Meeting! Club members are always looking for a great Masculine Card… and this one surely fits the bill!
Today’s card also features the Always Thankful Holiday Mini Catalog stamp set, which club members and guests will be able to purchase on Wednesday November 2nd at a 20% discount! If you’d like to attend the club meeting, please RSVP and contact me to ensure that adequate kits are prepared!
During our club meetings, we lunch and learn… LOL, stampers love to eat, and we generally feast on a delectable meal and dessert too! The club is currently filled to capacity, with hostesses receiving monthly benefits and free stuff… but if you’d like to join a future club, attend as a guest, or start a new club with friends, feel free to contact me.

Isn’t this fun? I’ll post the supply list towards the end of today’s post… you may already have many of the supplies on hand!
Did you know that you can also emboss the wood sheets? This one was embossed using the Big Shot Machine and Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and sponged with Soft Suede Classic Ink… Isn’t it cool?

I didn’t want to “muddy-up” the overall façade of the card, so the hand stamped sentiments from the “Always Grateful” stamp set were stamped only on the interior of today’s card. Edges of Very Vanilla card stock were sponged with Soft Suede Classic ink to blend and maintain the masculine impact of the card.
Overall, the card has a relatively flat profile, and weighs well under one ounce too! Dimensionality is achieved with the Houndstooth embossed wood sheet and popped up focal image!
