Trendy Trees And A Punchy Turkey

So… what does the Trendy Trees Stamp Set have in common with a punchy turkey?  LOL… not much, but both these cards were made in my 245 Stamping Groups!

A 245 Group, if you haven’t ever heard that expression, is when a group of friends get together and make two simple cards on a weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly basis.  My Senior stamping groups, and Christ the King stamping groups are both 245’s.

Last month, one of the ladies in a 245 group requested that we make a punchy turkey Thanksgiving card.  LOL… I quickly said OK, but then when I got home I thought “oh, no!!!”.  There were so many pieces and parts in the sample she had shared, I was a bit worried!punch, turkey, thanksgiving, cas, 245 stamping, senior stamping, owl punch, Christ the King, trendy trees, 5 minute card, stamp pad, tip, sharon_field, createdbyu_blogspotI basically made the punchy turkey body by cutting the ears from an owl punched piece, and then added a small oval for his head.punch, turkey, thanksgiving, cas, 245 stamping, senior stamping, owl punch, Christ the King, trendy trees, 5 minute card, stamp pad, tip, sharon_field, createdbyu_blogspot

My 245 groups generally meet for just one hour, so I pre-assembled the turkey body, attaching the head, neck, nose, and gobbler before the session.  LOL, I remember vividly when we made a punch buggy (aka Volkswagen) with this group, they were not very pleased with all the tiny parts!

The feathers were made with scallop punches, vest was from the owl builder punch, and buttons were added with a white gel pen.

Pre-assembly streamlined the process a bit, and they were still able to complete both of their cards in just under one hour.punch, turkey, thanksgiving, cas, 245 stamping, senior stamping, owl punch, Christ the King, trendy trees, 5 minute card, stamp pad, tip, sharon_field, createdbyu_blogspot

Trendy Trees, designer series paper and embossed card stock were used on this 245 group card we made in a recent Senior Stamping session.  It’s a semi-case of one I received earlier this year from demonstrator Krista Pomeroy.  Krista’s card had more of a grunge look… with torn paper, sponged edges and just a two layer focal image.  I particularly liked her choice of colors on the card, and duplicated that here too.punch, turkey, thanksgiving, cas, 245 stamping, senior stamping, owl punch, Christ the King, trendy trees, 5 minute card, stamp pad, tip, sharon_field, createdbyu_blogspot

Focal image card stock was dragged through the early espresso ink pad to darken the edges and give the illusion of additional layers.

Stamping Tip:

  • To help align the leaves after stamping the tree, I made an ink mark on the edge of the wooden block so signify where the center and trunk should align.
  • After inking the image, they simply aligned the ink mark with the stamped tree trunk, so that only 1/2 of the tree trunk could be seen.
  • Perfect stamping and alignment all around the table, easy peasy!

See you tomorrow with a new Utah Divas International Color Challenge… it was a real bear, or challenge for me… but hope you’ll join us!

Hugs,

Sharon
