Christmas Greeting Card Kids–2 Versions

When you think of Christmas with Grandma, what pops into your mind?  Mine were big holiday dinners in Grandma’s basement with cousins, aunts, and uncles.  Grandma’s old house had several birch trees in the front yard.  Birch trees were a lot of fun, if you were fortunate enough to find some fallen bark, you could write on it!

So… that’s what’s behind today’s Greeting Card Kids Christmas Card.  It’s got both white and vanilla on it, colors I don’t often pair together.  It has birch bark paper, and it has a somewhat vintage feel with tiny prints, lace, and pearls… all representing my Grandma Zell.GreetingCardKids_On_Createdbyu_blogspot_BySharonField_main

I was happy enough with this card as is… but then spotted a loose pair of stitched felt mittens on my work table… so here’s a second version of the card, with one tiny change!p2_greeting.card.kids.with.mittens.by.sharon.fieldIsn’t it amazing how adding just one more embellishment can change a card?  LOL, the trick of course, is knowing where to STOP!!p3.mittens.pearls.lace.dsp.sharon.field.createdbyu.blogspot

The die cut scallop trim on today’s card was made using the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die in my big shot machine from the Holly Berry Bouquet Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack.p4_sentiment_GreetingCardKids_SharonFieldMerry Christmas was stamped using Basic Gray Classic Ink… I wanted it to match the birch paper background from the Frostwood Lodge DSP and three petals from each tiny paper daisy were removed to form the tiny flower bouquet tied up neatly with Cherry Cobbler Bakers’ Twine.p5_Paper_daisy_girl_closeup_SharonField

I really love these adorable images from the Greeting Card Kids Stamp Set… they’re lots of fun to color whether you use markers, pencils, or water color crayons!

Can’t you visualize this little girl walking through the birch trees to Grandma’s house for the celebration?

Be sure to check back later today for the winners of last week’s Blog Candy Awards!  I’ll be announcing the winners of Inkspirations4U passes as well as the Simply Soft Hostess Set!

Hugs,

Sharon

How sweet is this card? Makes me happy to see it, and especially happy the "cold" is somewhere away from Florida! LOL Love how you are using the mica flakes on the little girl or glitter?

These are both so adorable. Thanks for sharing. Love the little flower bouquet in the second one and the strong colouring you've used on her little coat, stockings and hat. Very lovely.
