CAS 2 New Blue Christmas Cards

Continuing with a “Clean and Simple” or CAS theme for the weekend, today I’m sharing two new Blue Christmas Cards using new stamp sets from the Idea Book & Catalog 2011 AND the New Holiday Mini Catalog too.  All products featured in today’s cards are available at my Online Stampin’ Up! Store!

I’ve always loved blue Christmas cards, blue Christmas wrapping paper and d├ęcor… although I’m not sure why!  As a child, we always had traditional green and red Christmases.  LOL… except for my Grandmother who had one of those Silver Tinsel Trees with a kaleidoscope of color shining upward from the floor… remember those?Stocking_Builder_Punch, Createdbyu_Blogspot, Sharon_Field, Holiday_Mini_Catalog, Idea_Book_and Catalog, Shop_online, Polar_Party, Come_to_Bethlehem, Christmas, Holiday, CAS, Clean_and_Simple, Quick_Cards, BlueNot too many layers, a little Designer Series Paper, and a triple loop bow along with just a little rhinestone “bling”.  Two stamp sets were used on this card:  Stitched Stockings from the Holiday Mini Catalog, and Come To Bethlehem from the Idea Book & Catalog 2011.Stocking_Builder_Punch, Createdbyu_Blogspot, Sharon_Field, Holiday_Mini_Catalog, Idea_Book_and Catalog, Shop_online, Polar_Party, Come_to_Bethlehem, Christmas, Holiday, CAS, Clean_and_Simple, Quick_Cards, BlueWhat a fun new punch!  The Stocking Builder Punch and coordinating stamp set are lots of fun to play around with!  It’s quite versatile too… not just seasonal!  I’ve seen demonstrators make a baby bootie using this stamp set and punch.

The argyle bootie stamp was colored using Stampin’ Write Markers in Old Olive, Bashful Blue, and Marina Mist.  Initially I colored in both toe and heel of the stocking using a White Gel Pen, but didn’t really like how it came out so instead, cut small pieces of Whisper White Card Stock to cover the gel pen.

The Stocking Builder punch actually has toe, heel, and cuff pieces too but they are as larger, to fit the toe and heel of a plain card stock punched stocking.Stocking_Builder_Punch, Createdbyu_Blogspot, Sharon_Field, Holiday_Mini_Catalog, Idea_Book_and Catalog, Shop_online, Polar_Party, Come_to_Bethlehem, Christmas, Holiday, CAS, Clean_and_Simple, Quick_Cards, Blue, StockingAdded an antique brad to the triple loop bow.  I chose this brad style because it had white highlights, and thought it would compliment the stark white area of both card and stocking.Stocking_Builder_Punch, Createdbyu_Blogspot, Sharon_Field, Holiday_Mini_Catalog, Idea_Book_and Catalog, Shop_online, Polar_Party, Come_to_Bethlehem, Christmas, Holiday, CAS, Clean_and_Simple, Quick_Cards, Blue, StockingBorrowed “Merry Christmas” from the Come To Bethlehem Stamp Set and stamped it using Marina Mist Classic Ink.Stocking_Builder_Punch, Createdbyu_Blogspot, Sharon_Field, Holiday_Mini_Catalog, Idea_Book_and Catalog, Shop_online, Polar_Party, Come_to_Bethlehem, Christmas, Holiday, CAS, Clean_and_Simple, Quick_Cards, Blue, StockingThe Whisper White card stock layer was embossed using a Big Shot Die Cutting Machine and the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Basic Jewel Rhinestones were added to the center of exposed snowflakes… just a little bling!Stocking_Builder_Punch, Createdbyu_Blogspot, Sharon_Field, Holiday_Mini_Catalog, Idea_Book_and Catalog, Shop_online, Polar_Party, Come_to_Bethlehem, Christmas, Holiday, CAS, Clean_and_Simple, Quick_Cards, Blue, StockingAren’t these little penguins from Polar Party cute?  This was a card I had made some time ago in connection with one of my Design Team Challenges, LOL… but I wasn’t too crazy about it.

I re-discovered it while cleaning my stamp room table last week and wondered why I didn’t like it… funny how stepping away from a project for a while can give you fresh perspective!Stocking_Builder_Punch, Createdbyu_Blogspot, Sharon_Field, Holiday_Mini_Catalog, Idea_Book_and Catalog, Shop_online, Polar_Party, Come_to_Bethlehem, Christmas, Holiday, CAS, Clean_and_Simple, Quick_Cards, Blue, StockingDoesn’t he just make you smile?  Stocking_Builder_Punch, Createdbyu_Blogspot, Sharon_Field, Holiday_Mini_Catalog, Idea_Book_and Catalog, Shop_online, Polar_Party, Come_to_Bethlehem, Christmas, Holiday, CAS, Clean_and_Simple, Quick_Cards, Blue, StockingBoth Penguins (and trees) were colored with stampin’ write markers.P1060043As a final touch, new In-Color Designer Printed Brads were added to the upper left side of the card using a Mat Pack and Paper Piercing Tool.  One space was left between each pierced hole, so they’re smacked together pretty tightly…. LOL, next time I’ll leave two spaces. Smile

I love non-traditional colors for Christmas. I'm picturing your gorgeous Marina Mist stocking card in Wisteria Wonder.
