Elegant Pyramid 3-D Cards

When I first viewed Libby Dyson’s 3-D Pyramid Card, I couldn’t wait for the tutorial.  LOL, I tried to figure it out before she posted it, but didn’t have a clue!

After first making a prototype from retired Card Stock, I decided to jump right in and cut up my Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP)… I just knew the elegant flocked patterns would produce just as elegant a card!

LOL… my prototype unfortunately, didn’t have as many layers as my new Mocha Morning card… although it’s a stunning card, complete with Champagne Shimmer Mist, it wouldn’t lie flat enough to fit within a standard A2 envelope… so I set out to re-engineer the card to use with Designer Series Paper and layers too!

I’ll share both cards, because they are quite different…. but in reverse order, i.e. the last one first!  LOL… I had so many photo ‘views’ I decided to scrapbook them using My Digital Studio… what do you think?

The scrapbook page above shows multiple views of the exterior of the 3-D Pyramid Card.  The card folds flat and fits perfectly within an A-2 Envelope too!

After untying the ribbon from the flat fold view, Mocha Morning Specialty DSP appears to be hiding the interior message.  You can see a peek of stamped images on the interior, which are from the Creative Elements Stamp Set!

Opening fully, internal messages are stamped from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set… also flanked by flocked Mocha Morning Specialty DSP… (say that fast three times!!)

I love how this card turned out, and how it folds so nicely flat!

And, when opened up and tied, it’s a pretty 3-D card and a gift that keeps on giving!

Now for the FAT card… the one that would cost a mint to mail!  I actually combined both Mocha Morning Specialty DSP and Well Worn DSP on this card, along with Champagne Shimmer Mist too.

I really liked how the edge of the card tucked neatly into the adjacent DSP covered panel.  This was very easy to do using the self-healing mat included with the Mat Pack, an Exacto Knife, and a Ruler.Mocha Morning Specialty, Designer Series Paper, Pyramid_Card, Sharon Field, Libbystampz, blogspot, createdbyu, 3D, Designer series paper, dsp, scrapbook, mds, pyramid, card, wedding

Although it’s quite hard to photograph and/or view, all DSP on this card was sprayed with Champagne Shimmer Mist, my own recipe from September 2009… check out the tutorials tab for details!

LOL… this card was so bulky, it really wouldn’t fold flat, and there was no ribbon to hold it flat either!  I never stamped the inside so that’s why you’re not seeing more views of this one!

Very beautiful card, I will have to try it. I was looking at it last evening but not sure I understood, maybe it will take actually doing it.
