UDI44 - A Dr. Seuss Christmas Card

Today’s post features bright colors in the tradition of Dr. Seuss, and a new Idea Book & Catalog Stamp Set:  Polar Party!  The Utah Divas Color Challenge just screamed “Dr. Seuss”… remember the brightly colored books featuring The Cat in the Hat, Horton, and so many other colorful characters from our childhood years?

LOL… I didn’t know what else to do with these crazy colors than to layer it all together!  So, in the spirit of Dr. Seuss, today’s UDI card share is twisting and turning… a topsy turvy Christmas Card complete with plenty of sparkle and bling too!

UDI44, Sharon Field, Polar Party, Createdbyu, Created by You, idea book and catalog, glitter brads, faux stitching, aqua painter, dr. seuss, crystal effects, color challenge, utah divas international, big shot, embossing

The trees were painted using an Aqua Painter and Markers in the palette of the UDI Color Challenge:  Riding Hood Red, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Tempting Turquoise, and Pear Pizzazz.UDI44, Sharon Field, Polar Party, Createdbyu, Created by You, idea book and catalog, glitter brads, faux stitching, aqua painter, dr. seuss, crystal effects, color challenge, utah divas international, big shot, embossing

Hand colored tree elements (bulbs, baubles, strings, and stars) were then embellished with Basic Jewel Rhinestones and Crystal Effects to give them a more 3-dimensional appearance.

The Crystal Effects (CE) clear gloss glue was applied with the tip of a toothpick… one of those common ‘must have’ tools in every stamp room!  LOL.. it’s hard to control just where the CE will go when you add it to your stamped images, and of course less is more.  (I guess I should have had a magnifying glass to see exactly where those little globs of glue were landing!

Additional bling came in the form of glitter brads, which were given a bit more emphasis with faux stitched lines created with mat pack, paper piercing tools, and the fine tip of coordinating stampin’ write markers.

Pretty crazy color challenge, huh?   Perfect for Summer Picnic Table Wares… or Dr. Seuss, what’s your choice?  Create a project, card or scrapbook page using this weeks’ color challenge, and then be sure to link back to the Utah Divas International Design Team  site.  We’d love to see where your mind goes on this one!

See you tomorrow with a new Diva Coffee Break Design Team Challenge, it’s a color challenge too…

Hugs,

Sharon
