CS40S Black & White Precious Butterflies

For today’s Creative Sketches Design Team challenge, I created a very clean Black and White card using the new idea book & catalog stamp set Precious Butterflies, and then stepped it up a bit.  Here’s the first version of the sketch based card:CS40S, Sharon Field, Created by You, createdbyu, precious butterflies, new catalog, idea book and catalog, punches, rhinestones, black and white, seam binding, ribbon, shimmer paint

And, here’s the second version, I thought it needed a little something more in the lower left corner for balance, so a paper daisy flower and Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Double Loop Bow were added.CS40S, Sharon Field, Created by You, createdbyu, precious butterflies, new catalog, idea book and catalog, punches, rhinestones, black and white, seam binding, ribbon, shimmer paint

Now you’re thinking… doesn’t look very much Cherry Cobbler to me… right?  Actually, it’s more like the color of a deep red rose, carefully hung upside down to dry.CS40S, Sharon Field, Created by You, createdbyu, precious butterflies, new catalog, idea book and catalog, punches, rhinestones, black and white, seam binding, ribbon, shimmer paint

LOL… and a little difficult to capture on film, both ribbon and daisy sparkle with the help of my favorite… champagne shimmer paint!  After mixing a drop of champagne shimmer paint with 3 drops of Cherry Cobbler re-inker, the color was sponged onto the paper daisy.

Of course, the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding was already the color needed, so the champagne shimmer paint was applied directly to the ribbon with a sponge dauber… and then something really amazing happened… the normally flimsy seam binding now had body and was stiffer, allowing me to snip the ends with no fraying!

Tying the double loop bow was a bit more tricky with stiffer seam binding but, as I played with this shimmer paint coated seam binding, a thousand ideas went through my head… well, maybe not quite a thousand!  (But for those who know me well… it was pretty close to a thousand, LOL!)CS40S, Sharon Field, Created by You, createdbyu, precious butterflies, new catalog, idea book and catalog, punches, rhinestones, black and white, seam binding, ribbon, shimmer paint

Today’s sketch had bands of color or ribbon across the card base, anchored with pearls.  Already gussied up with a sparkled daisy and bow, I decided to brush off my open scallop border punch.

Continuing with the add a little sparkle theme, medium sized basic jewel rhinestones were added to each border punched edge.

Stunning card! What a cool idea to add the paint to the seam binding.

Beautiful. The flower and ribbon stepped it up quite a few notches. I like that idea of using the shimmer paint on the ribbon.
