DCBD 231 Flores Suaves CAS Design

Today’s Diva Coffee Break Designs Team sketch is a very CAS (Clean and Simple) Design, which we hope will inspire you to create and stamp along with the team this week!

For my card, I chose soft colors and contrast… Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, and Basic Black.  My stamp set of choice is Flores Suaves, one of my favorites (which I’m happy to say is NOT retiring, LOL).  Flores Suaves is NOT in the Summer Mini Catalog… It’s NOT in the Idea Book And Catalog (not even the new one).  It is one of those stamp sets which can only be found in the Hispanic catalog issue, “Celebrando Creatividad”.

Flores Suaves (Item #112913) is such a versatile stamp set, I find myself using it often for cards, collage backgrounds, and vintage themed creations.  The stamp set features four images… three of which I’ve used on today’s challenge card sample:  Small script background, Butterfly, and Bee.  The third image is an elegant, long stemmed rose, which I’ll be featuring in tomorrow’s Creative-Sketches Challenge.

Simple card, simple embellishments… the Bee wings were enhanced with Dazzling Diamonds applied with a 2-way glue pen.  A Neutrals Button is layered with a Crystal Brad, and Basic Jewel Rhinestones represent the butterfly ‘head’.

I love bees… as long as they’re not anywhere near me, LOL… got stung in the arm pit by a wasp many years ago, and still wince at the memory of that moment!

Following along with the sketch suggestions, I’ve added a vertical strip of Basic Black Satin Ribbon to the front of the card, defining and dividing script and butterfly components… and the whole thing was topped with a fun double loop bow tied on my fingertips.

I generally attach Double loop bows with three mini glue dots, to ensure the knot doesn’t slip out when the card is handled or mailed… one behind the actual knot, and the other two actually touch bow loops and tails on each side.

Here’s today’s sketch for the Diva Coffee Break Designs team!

Use the sketch as your starting point… or recreate it as is!  Come stamp with us, and then share the URL of your PHOTO or the SECIFIC BLOG POST on our team blog at Diva Coffee Break Designs!

As a side note, and yet very important… design team members try to visit and comment on all participating photos for challenges, but sometimes we can’t!   Here are the top reasons we may have not have been able to leave a comment on your post:

  1. The link you provided was not the URL for the photo or the blog post containing the photo!  Linking your blog only will slow down comments as busy design team members have to search and hunt for the photo you linked!  Sometimes we just run out of time hunting in between family and work responsibilities!
  2. This happens quite frequently, and appears to be a glitch within blogger… You have POST PAGES enabled with your comment form directly below the post checked.  I don’t know why this stops us… but if you’ve got post pages enabled, checking the comment form in pop-up window (instead of below post) will fix the issue!
  3. As an additional side note, many challenge design teams have posted on their sites that they will no longer take the time to leave comments on sites who have word verification enabled… this trend has been going on for a couple of years now.

Word Verification is an effective way to control some spammers when you are NOT monitoring comments.  If you are using comment moderation, it’s really not necessary at all!  It is more likely that readers will become frustrated and just give up.

For more, detailed information on the industry trend initiated way back in 2009, check out the tech article at The Original Blogger Tips and Tricks.

Here’s an excerpt from Harriet And Friends on Blogging and Comments:

TURN OFF YOUR WORD VERIFICATION

Seriously, there are better ways to combat spammers.  FYI :  Blogger will set your new blog to default to word verification. If you are using the embedded comment form instead of the pop-up form, often it will not display completely and you’ll lose comments. Or, even worse, someone will leave a comment not knowing that the word verification will pop up after they press publish and the page refreshes and they will “x” out your site meaning that NO comment will be lost. I guarantee this has happened to you!

Have a great day, and I look forward to viewing (and commenting) on your creative interpretations of today’s Diva Coffee Break Designs Team Sketch!

Hugs,

Sharon

What a gorgeous card! Love that butterfly, so pretty. Why would SU hide that stamp set from us? Thanks for letting us know we can purchase it! I like the neutrals with this card. It is very calming and serene.

Very nice card! I love the 'dazzling diamonds' on the wings! Thanks for the info on blogs even tho I don't understand much of it. I want to have a blog but don't know if I have enough of interest to have one.
