Rescue and Re-Use Designer Series Paper

Have you ever purchased a designer series paper pack and had difficulty using one of the patterns?  Perhaps you didn’t have coordinating Card Stock… Or you just didn’t care for the color and/or pattern?

We all know that we can brayer over designer series paper to enhance it, or stamp additional images onto the paper to change it’s appearance.  I’ve shared both of those techniques and tips in the past.

Today I’m going to show you a third way to enhance or change that Designer Series Paper you weren’t so crazy about, or couldn’t figure out how to use in a paper project.  Each of today’s card shares will feature the small blue floral patterned paper from the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper Pack.

Here’s the first card… which I’ve enhanced with a two way glue pen and a bit of dazzling diamonds on the larger flowers in the paper pattern.

Dazzling Diamonds were also added to the flat areas of the embossed flower on the Very Vanilla Card Stock.  Isn’t that Flower Garden Textured Embossing Folder gorgeous?  It’s in the new Summer Mini Catalog along with the postage stamp punch and coordinating Pretty Postage Stamp Set.

The next cards all use the same designer series paper… but I’ve enhanced them with different colored markers!

On the first one the flowers were colored with a Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker, and the leaves with an Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker.

For a little different twist, I tried using a So Saffron Stampin’ Write Marker on the flowers, and Old Olive Marker for the leaves.

Changing just a little bit more, adding a white gel pen accent to the flowers made the flowers POP!

P1020140

One more change-up was done with a Pear Pizazz Marker for the leaves, and Sahara Sand Marker on the flowers.  P1020185

This one had a more vintage appearance, warranting a lovely antique brad and ruffled crochet trim.. here’s a close-up:

Most of the cards were left without sentiments… I’ll use them when I need a very quick card for an occasion, and simply stamp, punch, and pop on the appropriate greeting.

So, now you can look at those ‘ugly’ or unused designer series paper with another way to modify them!

Have a great day, see you tomorrow with a new Diva Coffee Break Designs Color Challenge!

Hugs,

Sharon

AWESOME ... this is so true that some of the papers just are not quite 'right' for what you need - great idea to add additional color to them or bling them up with glitter! TFS!

Thanks for all the tips for DSP. I especially like the dazzling diamonds and the white gel pen. Lots of good ideas here.

Never, in a million years, would I have thought to either glitter the ugly flowers or color them in to make them pretty. What a WOW effect on a DSP design that definitely spoke to me but didn't say anything exciting. lol! Thanks for the inspiration, Sharon!
