Love And Care Hostess Set - DCBD226

This week’s Diva Coffee Break Designs Team Challenge is to use the colors Soft Suede, So Saffron and Regal Rose on your project, card, or scrapbook page.

Adding one neutral:  Very Vanilla Card Stock, my card came together rather quickly with the help of the new Summer Mini Catalog Hostess Level 2 Stamp Set:  Love And Care.  Other stamp sets used in this project:  Friends 24/7, Weathered, and Tiny Tags.

Weathered is a large format background stamp, which I inked and stamped onto Very Vanilla Card Stock with So Saffron Classic Ink.  The medallion motif from the Friends 24/7 stamp set was stamped along the outer edges with Soft Suede Classic Ink, and as a final step for creating the background layer, Soft Suede Classic Ink was sponged along the edges.

I woke up the other day thinking about embossing and scoring a background to appear just as you see the So Saffron background piece in this photo…Sharon Field, DCBD 226, Double Embossing, Pin Tuck, Created By You, Love & Care, Summer Mini Catalog

The So Saffron Card Stock was embossed using a big shot machine and Perfect Polka Dots Textured Embossing Folder, then scored on diagonals between the polka dots using a paper trimmer and scoring blade.

Trust me… those fancy score boards don’t work as well as the good old paper trimmer and scoring blade for this step!  It was easy to keep the lines evenly spaced by aligning card stock points on 1/2” grid marks which appear on the paper trimmer!

The tiny tags greeting “Thanks so Much” was stamped with soft suede classic ink using two images from tiny tags… and then topped off with the weathered background and so saffron classic ink, sponged with soft suede classic ink and pierced with  a piercing tool before tying to the card with linen thread.

I really wasn’t sure how to pull regal rose into this card… so opted for my standard:  A flower, of course!

What a great idea using the polka dots EF and then scoring diagonals. I love it. Thanks for the inspiration Sharon.

Very Nice! The color combination you used made this card look very vintage!

Gorgeous card! Loved that scoring and the look you got with the emossing folder. You are so creative! I've never scored anything but my card folded in half! LOL. Will give this a whirl. Thank you.
