Swap Team Shares and Featured Artists Part 1

Someone once asked me why I get up in the wee hours of the morning to post to my blog, and if I actually slept at night… Too funny!  Of course the answer is that my blog posts are often prepared days and even weeks ahead, allowing room for life’s unexpected events.. emergencies, company, etc.

That said, I have been somewhat remiss in posting swap team shares… (sorry guys!)… so I’m going to make it up with all the swaps I can find :)

Two from the terrifically talented Liane Peden… Pretty red and black, I just love the embossed background, sponging, and layout!

swaps 045

This one is stunning… but was difficult to photograph!  Aren’t the flowers cute?

swaps 027

Two from equally talented Carole’Anne Sluchinski… check out how she embellished the designer series paper… fabulous card!

swaps 030 Check out the book paper flower, the twin tags, and the hand died ribbons on this fun and pretty card!  Visit Carole’Annes’ Blog Here.swaps 034

And a fascinating watercolor washed emboss resist technique from Sandi MacIver… I just want to grab my aqua-painter and run to my stamp room to try this myself!  Check out Sandi’s wonderful blog HERE.

swaps 028

Sandi actually sent me two cards, but I’ll be darned if I can find the other one right now!! I had to clean up for classes this week, and put everything away much too well!   I’ll have to work on that.. must be on my camera or in that room, somewhere!

See you tomorrow, with more swap team shares!

And a more modern and fun birthday card:

More photos.. Scrap Your Recipes Class March 2010

Quick post today… three more photos from the Scrap Your Recipes 6x6 Voila Cookbook Class!  The cookbook was such fun to make, now I need to add recipes, my DD has dibs on this book!

Need to make a correction on yesterday’s post too.. the herb expressions stamp set is NOT a hostess set, it is a regular catalog stamp set, available in the Idea Book & Catalog!

voila cookbook 099

The layout above features the Friends 24/7 Stamp Set, and below the Charming Stamp Set!

voila cookbook 098

Compliments to the Chef has a great knife/fork/spoon stamp which was used on this layout set.  Boho Backgrounds was also used for the medallion and ribbon decor.

Back to card shares tomorrow… and busily preparing for the upcoming Royal Blog Tour which begins on April 30th… you won’t want to miss the tour and all we have to share!

Blogger Troubles: Not Loading Pictures

This morning when I created my initial post, all went well… but now photos are missing randomly from my blog. After a little research and help from a friend, I’ve discovered that the issue is with Blogger!!  Hopefully they will have the issue repaired soon!

Scrap Your Recipes with Herb Expressions

This cute little Real Red, Very Vanilla, and Basic Black cookbook was quite a hit in classes last week.  The original cookbook was made a couple years ago, so it required a face-lift to update the stamp sets used, and change the cover appearance as well.

voila cookbook 097

I really love the real red and very vanilla polka dot grosgrain ribbon, and just had to add a piece to the bow embellishing the front of the book!

Upon completion, the cookbook held five sections, and 60 pages for favorite recipes!

voila cookbook 102

The red and black theme kind of reminded me of an Italian restaurant… so with the help of the Herb Expressions Stamp Set, I had to add traditional Italian spices… Basil and Rosemary!

voila cookbook 088

voila cookbook 089

The Herb Expressions stamp set is a Hostess Level Three set, earned with a purchase or qualifying workshop of $500.00 or more.  Of course, that would also get you $60.00 in free merchandise of your choice, and Sale-a-Bration Free merchandise too!  The Herb Expressions Stamp Set would also make lovely stone coasters for gifting during the holidays, don’t you think?

By the way, Sale-a-Bration ends on March 31st!  If you haven’t gotten all the Free stuff you want, call me to place an order today!

See you tomorrow with more recipe pages from this cute little 6x6 recipe book!

Sponged Bella Bleu, and Flower Fancy Too!

So, you have this package of designer series paper sitting on the shelf, gathering dust… (or perhaps you dust it off every week or so.)

Problem:  perhaps you loved that paper when you first purchased it, perhaps you still love it too.. but it just doesn’t seem to match the project you’re working on.

Solution:  Add color with sponging!

March 2010 015

Isn’t this fun?  We sponged Sage Shadow Classic Ink onto the Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper, and it matches the rest of our card perfectly!

The Sage Shadow Card Stock was also run through the Finial Press textured embossing folder (love that embossing folder!!) and dragged over a Not Quite Navy Classic Ink Pad to highlight the raised patterns.  I can honestly say that I use the Finial Press Textured Embossing Folder so much that the print has almost completely worn off it!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Flower Fancy, Vintage Labels

Classic Inks:  Sage Shadow, Not Quite Navy, Brocade Blue

Cardstock:  Sage Shadow, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla

Accessories:  Crop-a-Dile Tool, eyelet, stampin' sponge, Mat pack and Piercing Tool, stampin’ dimensionals, Very Vanilla 5/8” grosgrain ribbon, and Bella Bleu DSP

Yesterday I mentioned that the Flower Fancy stamp set is going back on the shelf until the upcoming Royal Blog Tour :(  and told you what to expect for the upcoming week… the good news is that I am also working on a tutorial for the brayered and sponged surfer card I shared with you in this post.  Hopefully I’ll be able to pull that together too for a week end wrap up and surprise!

Thanks for stopping by!  I love reading your comments, and I love being YOUR Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator!

A Flower Fancy Birthday and Pretties Kit Bouquet

Dust off that Pretties Kit!!  Is yours sitting on the shelf in your craft space or room?  Mine has been for a while.  Last month I got it out for the club meeting… and now I cannot seem to put it back!

This card uses assorted sizes of flat backed pearls from the Pretties Kit as flower centers!

March 2010 020

The solid images are stamped DTP on Shimmery White Card Stock with Pretty in Pink,  and the outline with Regal Rose Classic Ink.  Both parts of the two step leaves were stamped with Mellow Moss Classic ink, as was the Well Scripted Birthday Greeting.

I was trying to go for the Paradise Bouquet effect which I posted on March 14th… didn’t quite make it.. but remember, this card was for a stamp a stack… so had to keep it more on the simple side too!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Flower Fancy, Well Scripted

Classic Inks:  Mellow Moss, Pretty In Pink, Regal Rose

Card Stock:  Cameo Coral, Shimmery White, Mellow Moss

Accessories:  Paper Snips, Pretties Kit, Open Scallop Punch (FREE through March 31st:), mini glue dots, stampin’ dimensionals

Do you like to cut small pieces when you come to a class or stamp a stack?  Just wondering!

There is one more card share from last week’s stamp a stack, and then we’ll move on.  Next week I’ll share two of my senior cards, and I’ll also share some shots of my Voila Cookbook re-do.

After tomorrow, I’ll be putting the Flower Fancy Stamp set back on the shelf until the next Royal Blog Tour (coming in May).  You’re going to love the items I’ve made for the tour!  You can read my princess interview HERE.  Psst… I’ve got something for everyone, and blog candy too!

Flower Fancy.. a funny story!

The Stamp A Stack featured 5 cards and an Easter treat… and this card was my least favorite of all.  I almost pulled it from the line-up!  Time crunch won out, and it was kept as one of the 5 cards… funny story… this was one of the favorites!  Who could know?

March 2010 033

Flower Fancy is a two step stamp set.  Many people prefer to use a Stamp-Ma-Jig Tool when using two step stamps… but I just wing it.  I think it adds to the water color effect, having the image inside and outside the lines.

The background was stamped and sponged in Certainly Celery using the Sanded Background Stamp, and the lower half is from the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper Collection.  Pulled kind of a fast one here.. used a retired punch (oops) and didn’t even realize it until the day of the class!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

Stamps:  Flower Fancy, Whimsical Words

Classic Inks:  Certainly Celery, Perfect Plum

Card Stock:  Very Vanilla, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Certainly Celery

Accessories:

  • Blossom Party Originalz Die
  • Boho Blossoms Punch
  • Fire Square Crystal Brads
  • Shades of Spring DSP
  • Dotted Textured Embossing Folder
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Paper Snips
  • Perfect Plum Stampin’ Write Marker
  • Sponge Dauber

Have you tired of this stamp set yet?  I hope not!!  I will be featuring even more Flower Fancy Stamped Designs during the upcoming Royal Blog tour… and there’s something for EVERYONE.  Got to love this set!

Flower Fancy… Sweet and Simple

Good Morning!  This is another card we made during the Flower Fancy Stamp a Stack.  Quick and simple, it features the Shades of Spring DSP, the softly water colored single flower image from the Flower Fancy Stamp set, Pretty in Pink and Old Olive Card Stock too!

March 2010 028

Love the old olive brads, and mix of old olive ribbons on this one… I’ve also used some self adhesive gold dots which were stashed away in a drawer in my stamp room.

Good news in our home.. DS is back in Utah after his tour in Iraq.  He called us last night too.. it was very good to hear his voice!  I’m sure he’s going to enjoy the cooler weather too!

See you tomorrow with another idea card share for the Flower Fancy Stamp set… and thanks for following along!

Hugs!

Brayered and Sanded Flower Fancy Card

We all love the finial press embossing folder… and sanding designer series paper to show a bit more color and texture…but what if??

I decided to brayer color onto very vanilla cardstock, emboss and then sand… and the results are a lot of fun!  March 2010 025

The bridesmaid designer series paper was sponged with blush blossom classic ink, and the image from Flower Fancy was painted by scribbling ink onto my plastic stamp case, and picking it up with an aqua painter / brush.  Letting the wet color dry and settle on the shimmery white cardstock allowed me to re-apply coats of ink and intensify the colors.

This is just one of the fun cards we are making this week in the Flower Fancy Card Making Class… it’s going to be a lot of fun, and you’ll also learn how to brayer color onto your cardstock… and how cool is that??

See you tomorrow!

WOW Flower Fancy… an Easter Treat

Remember two years ago, when I used the Flower Fancy Stamp Set to create an Owl Treat holder for fall?  (If not, you can view the brown eyed girl post here.)  The Flower Fancy Stamp set has been around for at least two years, and a while back, and was collecting dust on my stamp shelf… Until the other day, when I revisited the stamp set for a product based class offering coming later this month.

After dusting off the stamp set, I realized there was an Easter Bunny rabbit hiding inside!  Oh, I’m probably not the first one to see him… but since I rarely have luxury ‘blurffing’ time (blog + surfing = blurffing)…. I hadn’t seen him in the box before!  Long story short… here is my WOW Flower Fancy Easter Bunny:

Isn’t it the cutest Easter Bunny?  The Flower Fancy Stamp Set is a two-step set… so I used the small flower filler image and the large leaf filler image to create my little Easter Bunny!  Stampin’ Write Markers were used to draw in his little face and color his tongue.. that simple.  Want to see the rest of the treat bag?

March 2010 029I happen to LOVE Malted Milk Robins’ Eggs, and should probably stock up on them while they are available…. but then, again… NOT!  They’re kind of like Girl Scout Cookies… gone way before you realize you ate the whole box or bag!

The scallop-punched bottom edge is not pierced… I simply used a Pretty in Pink Stampin’ Write Marker to perfectly position a small dot in the center of each scallop… but you have to look closely to see that it’s not pierced!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

Stamps:

  • Flower Fancy #111578 $36.95
  • Whimsical Words (Sale-A-Bration FREE Item)

8 1/2” x 11” Card Stock:

  • Pretty in Pink #100459 $5.50
  • Whisper White #100730 $7.50

Classic Inks $5.95 each:

  • Pretty In Pink #101301
  • Chocolate Chip #100908

Accessories:

  • Scallop Edge Punch #112091 $15.95
  • Scallop Oval Punch #114889 $15.95
  • Pretty In Pink 5/8” Satin Ribbon (15yds) #117289 $8.95
  • Sponge Daubers #102892 $10.95
  • Chocolate Chip Marker #100071 $3.25
  • Pink Passion Stampin’ Write Marker#100036 $3.25

Have a really great week, I hope you’ll stop by again tomorrow… and leave a comment too!  I read each and every comment daily, and love to hear from all of you!  (That includes you too, Esther!)

Just for Fun… a collage of scraps!

What do YOU do with all those fabulous Designer Series Paper scraps?  You know, those little bits and strips of gorgeous paper which you simply cannot part with?  Are they stashed in a drawer, on a shelf, or sitting on your stamp table right now?

Today’s card features the Stampin’ Up! Priceless Stamp Set, bits and scraps of Nouveau Chic Designer Series Papers (DSP), and is an example of what you can do with all those tiny forgotten bits!

March 2010 057

Isn’t it fun?  The swirl images from the Priceless stamp set were stamped right on top of and across the Nouveau Chic DSP along the bottom edge of the card, and beneath the layers on the top left of the card.  Faux stitching with my handy dandy Mat Pack and paper piercing tool added another element of surprise to the card, and of course we had to pop up some stars too!

This is one of many cards we will be constructing during the upcoming 6 card stamp a stack.  I hope you have reserved your spot.. our fun group of friendly stampers really have a good time and I am sure you will too!  Check my ONLINE CALENDAR for more details, dates and times!

I’ve got a really cute Good Neighbors card to share with you tomorrow!  The Good Neighbors stamp set is FREE with your $50.00 merchandise order.   Visit my online Stampin’ Up! Store and click SHOP NOW to order your stampin’ supplies!

See you tomorrow!

One Stamp Set… A Card for Guys!

I fell in love with the Sense Of Time Stamp Set the minute I laid eyes upon it!  It’s one of Shelli Gardners’ favorites too… that is why you will see a little heart next to the item number in the Stampin’ Up! Idea Book and Catalog.  For those unfamiliar, Shelli Gardner is the Owner of Stampin’ Up, a company located in Utah, USA!

Sense of Time is a 4 piece wood mount rubber stamp set featuring two greeting and two image stamps.  It’s a great stamp set which I have used in the past on scrap book pages too!  Here is today’s card:

March 2010 052

Kind of reminds me of Grandpa… a suspender, old time clocks, cogs, and wheels (cogs.. not be confused with codger as in “old codger”)  Just kidding!  Again, I’ve used Nouveau Chic Designer Series Paper… got to love that paper, it’s so rich!  AND, I’ve paired it with Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla and Naturals Ivory Card Stock.  Stampin’ Dimensionals aka pop dots add depth and layers to the card, lots of fun!

Stamps:

Sense of Time #112804 $22.95

Card Stock & Designer Series Paper

  • Not Quite Navy
  • Very Vanilla
  • Naturals Ivory
  • Nouveau Chic DSP

Classic Ink:  Not Quite Navy

  • Circle Punches – assorted
  • Ticket Corner Punch
  • Styled Vanilla Hodge Podge Hardware
  • Twill Tape
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals

Hope you’re having a stamping good day… hope to see you back here tomorrow!

A Mothers’ Day Card for My Son!

Today’s card features the FREE Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration stamp set Good Neighbors, and the Occasions Mini Catalog stamp set Well Scripted and was inspired by a Leadership swap received from Teresa Worrall in January this year!

Teresa’s original card used the scallop circle punch and featured a row of 3 houses and two trees lined up along a roadside, with a heart in the middle of the road and mounted on Soft Suede Card Stock.

Are you ready?  Here is my version:

voila cookbook 013 I wanted to C.A.S.E. Teresa’s idea, yet somehow make it my very own… so I added a bashful blue sky (card base), grassy areas on either side of the street, and LOTS of trees.  I also popped up the trees, and clouds , and instead of placing a small heart on the card, added a popped up heart greeting and another popped up small heart to the greeting.

I think it must have been a windy day, my trees are leaning a little bit :)  The popped up clouds and trees add a little dimension… and they also serve to hide boo boo’s… if you stamp it kind of strangely, it simply becomes a ‘creative opportunity’ to add dimension to your card by popping up a new tree image!

Here’s a close up of the heart on heart pop up:

voila cookbook 075

I love working with beginner stampers!  It is so much fun to help them discover creative opportunities in stamping!  You will often hear me state “there are no mistakes, just creative opportunities” as we find a creative way to append an imperfection or opportunity.  My friends have heard me say it so often, they now say it before I do at stamping events!

Now… why did I call this a Mothers’ Day Card for my Son?  Well, first of all I hate making Mothers’ Day cards… psycho thing.. since my own Mother passed away.  But, I thought this card was a perfect hint to send to our DS… who does not call or email us nearly enough!  Of course, being a hint, it’s not blatant enough, he probably wouldn’t get the message… brilliant soul and genius that he is, subtle hints often go un-noticed.

Think about it… wandering soul, doesn’t call home often enough, currently stationed in Iraq.  Do you think he’d get the hint to visit, email, or call?  Probably not.

Hope to see you tomorrow!

Sanded Designer Series Paper, Quick Workshop Card!

Did you know that when you HOST a Stampin’ Up! workshop, you get to make stuff too?  It’s a fun way to spend time with family and friends, or just get together for a Girls Night or Day out!  Of course, you have an opportunity to earn FREE stuff… lots of FREE stuff too!

Today’s card features the With All My Heart Stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog,  TWO Designer Series Papers… Bride, and Bella Bleu, and a fun sanded embossed technique too!

March 2010 053The Bella Bleu DSP was placed in the Finial Press Textured Embossing Folder, and run through my Sizzix Big Shot machine.  Using a sanding block to gently sand OFF the high points on the paper, made the pattern and embossing really stand out. It is a really fun and wow technique which is great to showcase in a workshop setting too!

The Rich Razzleberry In-Color Card Stock and matching polka dot grosgrain ribbon add an element of fun, and Mellow Moss Card Stock add an extra pop of color too.

Another Day with Paradise

I just love the Paradise 5 piece solid image  rubber stamp set!  Paradise probably goes un-noticed as you page through the bountiful and beautiful images in the 209 page Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog!  It can be found at the bottom of page 97, and at $20.95 it is quite affordable, fun, and easy to use.  Today’s card features the Paradise Stamp Set, Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper found in the Occasions Mini Catalog, and Vintage Labels FREE Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set.  I love the fresh and clean combination of Very Vanilla and Certainly Celery used on this card, don’t you?

March 2010 055Lots of texture and layers here… all popped up with ultra-thin and easy to use Stampin’ Dimensionals!  The dotted textured embossing folder added an element of fun, and of course Certainly Celery 5/8” Satin Ribbon is a luscious addition too!  I LOVE the new satin ribbons… silky smooth, and a beautiful hand… no stiff and yucky ribbon here!

This is one of the cards featured in an upcoming stamp – a – stack at my Jacksonville, Florida home.  RSVP’s are a must… all the cardstock and many of the elements are pre-cut for your quick and easy stamp and assembly!

Another Fifth Avenue Floral Paradise Card… For You!

Yesterday, you were told that I would share another Fifth Avenue Floral and Paradise card combo… well as promised, here it is, complete with tutorial and cutting directions as well!

This just happens to be one of the cards we made during the Card Making Part II classes held this month at the local University.  During the sessions, students cut their own cardstock, and learned a variety of basic stamping techniques as well.  The focus of this class was mainly on embossing… but they learned to watercolor on shimmery white card stock as well!

voila cookbook 003

After stamping the leaves and stem of the flower, I used an Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Marker to add more color, depth, and veining… really helps to make the flower stand out!  The clear acrylic dot is a ‘build a brad’ dot which was used to magnify the center of the flower.

Scroll down for the cutting and assembly directions/tutorial!

Stampin’ Up Supplies:

Stamps:

  • Fifth Avenue Floral
  • Vintage Labels
  • Paradise

Classic Inks and Stampin’ Write Markers:

  • Cameo Coral
  • Old Olive
  • Always Artichoke
  • Barely Banana

Accessories:

  • Heat Tool
  • White Embossing Powder
  • Versamark Ink
  • Aqua Painter
  • Organza Ribbon
  • Round Tab Punch
  • Build-A-Brad
  • Finial Press Textured Embossing Folder

Card Stock and Cutting Directions:

  • Shimmery White: 2 ¼” x 4”
  • Whisper White: 8 ½” x 5 ½” scored at 4 ¼” and scrap to stamp/punch ‘for you’
  • Old Olive: 5 ¼” x 4 ¼” embossed, and 2 ¾” x 4 ½”
  • Barely Banana: 3 ¾” x 5”
  • Cameo Coral: 2 ½” x 4 1/4””

Stamp and Assemble Directions:

    1. Turn on Heat Gun, allow it to warm up.
    2. Stamp stem and leaves with Old Olive Ink on Shimmery White Card Stock, Dry with Heat Gun.
    3. Use Powder Pal to remove static from card front, pounce all over stamped image and cardstock.
    4. Ink Floral Image with Versamark, stamp on card.
    5. Over the embossing tray, pour a small amount of White Embossing Powder over versamark, making sure entire stamped image is covered.
    6. Remove excess embossing powder by turning image upside down over embossing tray, and gently ‘thumping’ on the back. Inspect image to ensure no additional embossing powder remains on card surface (these can be removed with a soft brush or the tips of your scissors.)
    7. Heat with Heat Gun until powder turns shiny and white. Be sure to move Heat Gun slowly over entire stamped image.
    8. Lightly wash the embossed image with water from your Aqua Brush (do not soak.)
    9. Slowly add Cameo Coral Ink with Aqua Brush to the embossed image. Allowing the image to dry between applications will enable you to add depth to the color.
    10. Use Cameo Coral Marker to color in the center of the flower, remove excess ink with a tissue.
    11. Use Barely Banana Marker to color around the center of the flower, and water from the Aqua brush to soften where you have just colored. Re-Apply color as desired.
    12. Use Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Marker to add veining to stem and leaves, and enhance the outer leaf edges.
    13. Attach stamped image to smaller Cameo Coral and Old Olive card stock pieces.
    14. Stamp “for you” on scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, punch with round tab punch, and highlight edges with Cameo Coral Stampin’ Write Marker.
    15. Attach to upper right edge of stamped image assembly.
    16. Now attach the piece to Barely Banana and textured Old Olive card stock. Refer to image for placement (on left side of card front.)
    17. Tie ribbon ‘knot’ and attach to card front with glue dots.
    18. Attach assembled card front to Whisper White card fold-over.

Easy peasy, easy enough for new stampers, and another great way to use your Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp Set!

Check out my CALENDAR and Events to find more fun class offerings, and don’t forget to RSVP!

See you tomorrow with another hand stamped project!

A Floral Arrangement in Paradise

Catchy, isn’t it?  It’s actually a Fifth Avenue Floral Arrangement with Paradise – two stamp sets combined to make a beautiful and dimensional floral arrangement on the face of a card!  Don’t they compliment each other well?

voila cookbook 017The leaves were stamped on Mellow Moss Card Stock with Old Olive Classic Ink.  They were hand-cut and curled with a piercing tool, and then popped onto the card base.  I used Crystal Effects to add a bit more depth and dimension to the DTP (direct to paper) stamped greenery too.. here’s another view…

voila cookbook 010 All of the flowers, and the card front were stamped and embossed with Versamark and Whisper White Embossing Powder onto Shimmery White Card Stock.   The embossing helps keep the painted colors inside the lines, and the Shimmery White Card Stock enables the water to flow across the petals without saturating the paper!

I chose to paint the flowers with Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana, and Cameo Coral, and Pixie Pink Classic Inks and my Aqua Painter.  My Grandmothers’ favorite rose was called a “Peace Rose” so I was trying to mimic the coloration found in that particular rose… typically yellow with pink edges.

Ready for the complete card?

voila cookbook 079 The tiny little butterfly is from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Tomorrow I’ll share another card using Fifth Avenue Floral too.. not quite as elaborate as this one, but I think you’ll like it too!

Capture the Wave… Brayer and Sponging Technique Card

You’ve been patiently waiting… and I’ve been playing with my brayer and sponges… finally!  This card kind of happened as a creative break from the technique and birthday cards I needed to create and assemble last Monday.. really speedy quick.  My mind was a blur, and I had no idea what I was going to create for the swaps, so I began to allow myself some creative ‘play' time.  Here’s a sneak peek of my brayer and sponging technique card…  I’m so I was so very excited by the final result, I have to egg you along for a bit!
Can’t you see the water and waves crashing?  I had to add some dazzling diamonds because in Florida, the waves sparkle in the sunlight… Isn’t it fun?
Are you ready to see the finished card?
<…drum roll>
Here you go!

Another view:

Of course, I’ll add a greeting or sentiment before shipping this card out to a worthy recipient… but for the time being, I think I’ll just sit back and enjoy the sound of crashing waves along the beach.
Have a really great day!
Hugs…

Can you imagine an Orange Grove?

Last month, I was both a host and student in Michelle Zindorf’s Beginner and Advanced Brayer Technique Classes.  Although I have not had much time to really practice the techniques and discover my own version of the technique… there was one day a few weeks ago where I attempted to create an orange tree.  Living in Florida, why not do an orange tree card we do see them often!  Easier said than done!

I decided to go ahead and share this with you, not my best work… because tomorrow’s post is going to WOW you.  I did learn the technique, and have managed to put my own twist on it, and am really quite happy with the results you’ll see in tomorrow’s card!

For my very first attempt at the brayer and sponging techniques I had learned, I decided to use the Season of Joy Stamp set since my very most favorite tree “Branch Out” was retired earlier this year (moan).  A new pencil eraser was used to add perfectly embossed oranges to the tree.  Not too happy with the results… OK, but not the WOW card I was hoping for!

Well, you get where I was going… still some work to be done, right?  The important thing is that I didn’t give up.. I’ve temporarily tabled the idea due to my busy and crazy schedule…  and secretly hoping Stampin’ Up! will come out with a better than Branch Out set in the Next Catalog IBC 2010-2011.  Crossing my fingers!!

Check back tomorrow to see the better your best brayer and sponge technique card with a Florida / Coastal twist… I think you’re going to be pleasantly surprised!

Monthly Swap Group… Featured Stamper Samples

Today, I’m sharing two more cards received in connection with my monthly swap group.  It’s kind of fun receiving cards from all over the world, where our demonstrator participants live!

Each month we have a swap ‘theme’ and a swap ‘technique’.  This months’ technique was emboss resist, and the theme:  Happy Birthday.

Today’s cards come from Lee Conrey.  The first card features the Pendant Park stamp set and the emboss resist technique:

The Pendant Park Stamp Set is also available en espanol… “Una Dia En El Parque” which I couldn’t resist because the phrase included was “Hola”… How fun!

And.. a cute and colorful second card share kind of yummy too… this one was for the happy birthday swap:

Want to see more of Lee’s work?  Visit her blog:  Stampingleeyours… make sure to tell her I sent you there!

See you tomorrow

Monthly Swap Group.. My Cards for March 2010

Out of town for the weekend, this one kind of snuck up on me.  I know, I know… it shouldn’t have!  The swaps were to be postal on Monday, so I quickly created and assembled the cards, visiting my local post office on Monday afternoon to double check postage, I successfully getting them in mail just in time!  Unfortunately, I mailed them before photographing… so quickly made one more of each to share with you!

I Here are my two swap cards for the month of March:

First card, featuring the “Of the Earth” Hostess Set from the 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog… The primary image was inked with pretty in pink and certainly celery stampin’ write markers.  Dazzling Diamonds added to the pretty pink bloom make this card really pop!

Card #2… emboss resist technique uses images from the Charming Stamp Set (YES.. this set is STILL available, Item # 116819.)

Both cards use a healthy amount of stampin’ dimensionals to pop up images.

Check back tomorrow, I’ll share two swaps I received from someone in our group!
