Sneak Peek Occasions Mini Catalog and Sketch Frenzy Friday New Years Eve

Happy New Years’ Eve! We’re just a few days away from the new Occasions Mini Catalog… I think you’re going to like all the fabulous new products and ideas in the Occasions Mini Catalog… I’ve got a wish list almost as long as my arm LOL!

Today’s Sketch Frenzy Friday Design Team Challenge Sketch SFF123110 was created by Design Team member Jennifer Weide.  A clean and simple design (CAS), it will be easy for your to create a quick card and play along with us this week!  Jennifer created this sketch using the My Digital Studio Software (MDS)… it is very easy to use… even a caveman could use it (aren’t you sick of those commercials?  LOL).  I use MDS when creating sketch contributions and scrapbook pages as well, Contact ME to schedule a demo!

Of course, MDS can be used for so much more… scrapbook pages, complete books, cards, and custom designer series paper printing as well.  To find out more about the My Digital Studio Software, visit my online Stampin Up Store

Here’s today’s sketch:

Well, I took a little liberty with the sketch… It all started out as a clean and simple (CAS) design per the sketch… and then something happened.  Inspired by new Occasions Mini Catalog products, Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper, and Vanilla Rosettes… I also manipulated the Framed Tulips Textured Embossing Folder to a new size (View last weekends’ Super Saturday Framed Tulips Tutorial Here)and I’m sharing another new product sneak peek as part of my Sketch Frenzy Friday Design Team Card!

Here’s my SFF123110 Design Team Card with a few tweaks and a vintage theme:

LOL.. it really did start out very simple… my plan was to use the Botanical Gazette DSP in place of the large upper rectangle per the sketch… but distracted by Vanilla Rosettes and the Framed Tulips Textured Embossing Folder, LOL… something just happened!

The Creative Details:

  • Two patterns from the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper are featured on today’s card.  Although it appears to be part of the Designer Series Paper, “Thank You” was stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink DTP or direct to Designer Series Paper.  Marina Mist Ink color was added to the edges of the Designer Series Paper using a sponge dauber for a soft effect.
  • OK… I know you’re going to ask about the Framed Tulips Textured Embossing Folder!  The Garden Green Cardstock measurement is 2-1/8” square, and the Marina Mist Cardstock measurement is 1-7/8” square.  I ‘backed’ into the square sizes by starting with a 2-1/2” square of Garden Green Cardstock, and a 2-1/4” square of Marina Mist Cardstock, and cut away excess as described in the Super Saturday Tutorial last weekend.
  • The Marina Mist frame was sponged with Early Espresso Classic Ink and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give more balance and frame the Vanilla Rosettes.
  • Garden Green Leaves were punched using the Two-Step Bird Extra Large Punch.  The larger leaves are actually bird wings enhanced with an embossing stylus and sponge dauber to create and highlight veining.
  • A single 1” Vanilla Rosette is balanced with two smaller 1/2” Vanilla Rosettes, attached to both leaves and cardstock with Mini Glue Dots.  (Occasions Mini Catalog Vanilla Rosettes are packaged 18/pkg. in three sizes:  1”, 3/4”, and 1/2” and may be found at the top of page 16)
  • An open scallop border punched edge frames the lower DSP print.
  • A Mini Vintage Tag (Idea Book & Catalog page 186) was stamped with a small crown in Not Quite Navy Classic Ink. and secured in place with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Note:  If you haven’t seen these tags in person, they are quite a lovely surprise.  The ultra fine gold shimmer vanilla background paper really sparkles and shines!
  • A knot of Victoria Crochet Trim and Marina Mist Taffeta ribbon were tied around Mini Paper Clip from the Clips Assortment  (Idea Book & Catalog page 187)
  • Two tiny tags images were were stamped, punched, daubed, and clipped in place with the Mini Paper Clip.  The top tag was popped up with 1/2 of a stampin’ dimensional.
  • An open scallop border punched edge frames the lower DSP print.
  • Three basic Jewel Pearls were placed along the upper left edge of the Designer Series Paper, adding another touch of vintage elegance.

As you can probably tell, the rectangle focal image was resized smaller, the brads were changed out for pearls and moved to the upper left edge of the card… and a few extras added along the way… but that’s what makes design team cards unique!  We all tweak and twist just a little until we have the perfect card to share.
