Faux Cloisonné Technique–Two Cards for the Creative Sketches Challenge

And a new product sneak peek!

Remember the Faux Cloisonné technique I shared in last weekend’s Super Saturday Tutorial?  Today it joins the Creative Sketches Design Team lineup of cards today… along with an extra surprise.  This week, I have two entirely different samples of Faux Cloisonné for the Creative Sketches Technique Challenge!

The first card featured the sample of Faux Cloisonné from last week’s Super Saturday Tutorial.  There’s lots of sparkle and glamor to this faux cloisonné card, too.  The Cherry Cobbler layer was sprayed with shimmer mist  (also found on my tutorial tab here on Created By You) and the brushed gold cardstock layer was covered with Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet from page 17 of the Holiday Mini Catalog before adding a layer of Dazzling Diamonds to the cardstock.

If you look closely, you can also see that I have added a two rows of brushed gold brads to the faux cloisonné layer using a mat pack and paper piercing tool.  As a final step, a double loop bow was tied on my fingers, and adhered to the card front with three mini glue dots.  I really liked how this card came out, and can’t wait to gift it to someone very special!

The second card is more of a contemporary design.. featuring Peach Parfait, Melon Mambo, and Marina Mist Cardstock.  The faux cloisonné technique was done on a scrap of Newsprint Designer Series Paper, and then a layer of color added using a brayer and Marina Mist Classic Ink.  A spray of Shimmer Mist makes the whole thing sparkle and shine!

There are three Occasions Mini Catalog new product sneak peeks featured on this card:

  • Bigz L Die “Fun Flowers”
  • “Framed Tulips” Textured Embossing Folder
  • Blossom Petals Punch

Do you recognize the punch used to make the butterfly?  It’s actually the 5-petal flower punch with one petal removed, LOL!  I stamped a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock using the larger swirl image from the Priceless stamp set and Versamark Embossing Ink.  After covering with Gold Embossing powder, it was heat set with a heat tool.  The antennae of the butterfly are simply twisted gold waffle paper.

Come play along with the Creative Sketches Design Team this week… the challenge, of course is Faux Cloisonné… and you can create a card, scrapbook page, or other item using this technique… it’s up to you!   Visit the Creative Sketches Design Team Blog for more inspiring examples of Faux Cloisonné too!

Hugs,

Sharon
