UDI9 Color Challenge… Just add Ink, Cardstock and Stamps!

Wow.. FIVE colors plus a neutral… very challenging color challenge from the Utah Divas International Color Challenge this week!  I try to do something different each week, and this UDI9 Color Challenge is quite a combination.  Taking it’s cues from pottery, this week’s challenge includes the following colors (plus a neutral, of course):  Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Poppy Parade, Riding Hood Red, So Saffron.

When I approach a color challenge, I reach in my cardstock file and pull out a sample piece of each cardstock included in the challenge.  I then compare and add a neutral, deciding on which would best compliment my project colors.  Today’s card is simply stamped and adds the neutral cardstock Very Vanilla.  Thankful that I happened to have a piece of Riding Hood Red Designer Series paper, I decided to use that as the major background for my UDI color challenge card.  Are you ready to see it?

The ovals were cut with the big shot ovals #2 die, and the flower was from the 5 petal flower, and itty bitty punch pack.  I love the look of ribbon and lace layered together, providing an additional hint of old olive color showing through the Chantilly Lace.  The stamp images from the pocket silhouettes stamp set were stamped in all the challenge colors, except for always artichoke, and then the oval was sponged with old olive classic ink and a sponge dauber.  I added just a touch of ‘bling’ with three basic rhinestone jewels.. and popped the various parts of the card on with a few stampin’ dimensionals.   Hope you like it… better yet, hope you will play along with the Utah Divas International Design Team this week… it’s a really fun way to jump start your creativity!

Stamps and Supplies Used in today’s UDI9 Color Challenge Card:

  • Stamps:  Perfect Petals, Short And Sweet
  • Cardstock:  Always Artichoke, so Saffron, Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Poppy Parade
  • Classic Inks:  Always Artichoke, So Saffron, Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Poppy Parade
  • Big Shot Machine and Accessories:  Ovals #2
  • Designer Series Paper:  Love Letters
  • Other Accessories:  Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, 5 petal flower punch, antique brads, Chantilly Lace, old olive 5/8” satin ribbon, metallic brads, itty bitty punch pack, tombow multi adhesive, mat pack, paper piercing tool, stampin dimensionals, stampin write markers.

Whew… what a list, hope I didn’t forget anything!  How do you approach a challenge?  Does it just pop into your head, do you CASE, or have a method to your madness?

See you tomorrow with the Diva Coffee Break Designs Team Challenge!

Hugs,

Sharon
