Desert Rose: Happiness Shared

The Happiness Shared stamp set from Stampin’ Up! has been on my ‘Wish List’ ever since the new Idea Book & Catalog was released this past summer!  I love the delicate desert rose stamped image in the set, the tiny leaf, single bloom and sentiment as well.

The cardstock on which the focal image is stamped, the card base and sentiment are all Confetti White Cardstock… with little bits and colors spewed throughout the cardstock in a random manner… so that tiny spot at the top/right of my card is inherent to the cardstock… not a messy fingerprint or ink smudge LOL!

Confetti White and Confetti Cream cardstock are both wonderful bases for water-coloring stamped images.  Not as dense as watercolor paper, yet more dense than traditional Stampin’ Up! Cardstock, it tends to absorb the color in a deeper fashion.

I think I really need to add a few dazzling diamonds to the desert rose stamped focal image, don’t you think?  It almost glistens in this photo, but not quite Smile.

The Blushing Bride (pink) Cardstock was scored on my Fiskars Paper Trimmer, every 1/2” on an angle.  Aligning the points/corners of the cardstock in the scoring channel ensured nice straight diagonal lines… which were moved over to 1/2” at a time, aligning with the Fiskars Paper trimmer base plate grid marks.  Of course you could do this with your favorite score board too (wish Stampin’ Up! would come up with a Cadillac model Score Board, don’t you?)

To get my tiny pearl jewels perfectly lined up on the Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper (DSP), I marked the 1/2" way point at each end of the DSP with a fine pencil mark, and then used my Mat Pack and Paper Piercing tool, piercing every other hole in the smaller grid.

Three additional single leaf images were stamped on Confetti White Cardstock Scraps, and then added to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals, giving the flower and card a bit of a 3-d appearance.

A little faux stitching was added around the focal image too… I love that effect, don’t you?

Pearls are definitely a girls best friend! Though a dusting of diamonds doesn't hurt either! LOL! Love this stamp set too. For some reason I always think of it as Desert Rose too, glad I'm not the only one.
