Flying Away... Germany, Poland, & China

You are probably wondering what in the world is going on! You may know that our DD is leaving next week for Europe as part of her dual-Master Degree pursuit. Needless to say, this is a very busy time... gathering a years' worth of clothing and supplies, prepping for a whirl-wind tour.

If you're missing my daily posts, my apologies... and this too shall pass (next week) when the regular schedule will resume. Just wanted to let you know in advance that this week will be somewhat sporadic!

The next down-line meeting is at the Golden Corral Restaurant on Beach Blvd. at 6pm. Please stop by and say hello if you're in the area! I'm also working on a team building event in the week following our DD's departure... when you receive that email, be sure to RSVP.

By next Tuesday, things activities should resume their normal state... and I'll be back sharing projects and cards with all of you then, if not before!

I'm still looking for just one new team member, you'd really enjoy being a member of the team... and it's a really great opportunity to start your business your way... or to just purchase all your color coordinated supplies at a regular demo discount! I'm still taking phone calls daily in between errands, and hope to hear from you today!

Scrap Pages Part 3- Your 6x6 Recipe Page Class

Here’s the third set of pages for yesterday’s Scrap Your Recipes or Your Life class.  I’m happy to report that everyone finished on time, and LOVED the pages (as a teacher, that’s ALWAYS good to hear).

These pages were a little more intense, with exacto knife cuts, pullouts, and pull-ups.  Lots of places to record your recipes and memories!

6x6aug09sftsdecompanion

Stamp sets used on these pages:  Compliments to the Chef, and Please Come (pull-up).  Once again, using the colors from the Thoroughly Modern DSP collection.  I think they turned out pretty cute, don’t you?

The complimentary page uses the slider technique for a side-ways surprise pull out.  I’ve had this great Classy Brass 5 7/8” “Pick a Petal” Template for years, and thought it was a great compliment to the page. (Item 109542/ $21.95 page 188) The template has piercing holes as well as embossing lines to trace.  To make them all stand out better, I used my Soft Suede Marker to outline the embossing, and paper piercer to pierce the fine inside line of the faux ‘plate’.  Fun!

6x6scrapAugust09 006sftsued2b

As you can see in the photo (below) several parts of this page are removable… lots of places to record additional recipe information and/or memories!

6x6scrapAugust09 006sftsued2a

The ‘fork-knife-spoon’ pull-out is actually 3x5.  I plan to use the back side for my 3x5 recipe card!

This class will be held monthly, and I hope to be able to offer a kit by mail option in the future too.. be sure to watch for updates/info!

Have a wonderful day and a beautiful week!

Scrapping your Recipes… two more pages to share!

Two more of the pages we’ll be making today!  These feature the new In Color Bermuda Bay, and once again the fabulous Thoroughly Modern DSP.  With the help of a few embellishments and punches, I think they’re quite fun!

6x6scrapAugust09 006berbay1

6x6scrapAugust09 006berbay2a

The bottom page has a pull-out card that will actually sit quite straight in the pocket… didn’t catch that when I took the photo!  Stamp sets:  Bella Blooms, and Voila To Go.

This is a busy week for us…

  • DD prepping to leave for 1 year in Europe, I will certainly miss her!
  • I am prepping for the Children's Miracle Network Benefit and Opportunity Event at Golden Corral Next weekend (hope to see you there)
  • And just a few more days left to take advantage of the New Demonstrator $85.00 kit special (expires Aug.31st)

Thanks for stopping by, I hope to visit with you soon!

Scrap Your Recipes Sneak Peek

Scrap Your Recipes OR Your Life, a new monthly stamp camp featuring three NEW 6x6 two page layouts.  This first set of pages is Asian inspired using the Dream Gardens Stamp Set.

This first page was originally made for a swap group I’ve joined… and features the ever so popular Chinese Chicken Salad Recipe which I featured in a Chinese New Year Stamp Camp HERE.

6x6scrapAugust09 004

The page features the Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper and is complimented by Basic Black and Rose Red Classic Ink.  A Filigree Brad anchors the lower right corner of the actual recipe.

We’ll be doing this page in Saturday’s class and pairing it with the following 6x6 page using the same colors and papers:

6x6scrapAugust09 003

Another view… both pages together, with a better view of the Filigree Brad too:

6x6scrapAugust09 005All six pages which we will do in Saturday’s Stamp Camp will feature the Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper.  Each pair will have a special theme, a place for your recipe, and a place for your special memories, and one for your special memories of Mom, Grandma, Family.  There will be a few surprises too!

I’m looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!

A Really WOW Day!!

And a very busy week too!  I’ve been busy working on this weekends’ scrap your recipes or your life layouts.  The layouts are so much more than  cut and paste or sticker… I can’t wait to share them with the class attendees on Saturday!

And really BIG news… got my baby back… my Dyson Animal Vac is back in total operation!  The repairman said it was the best maintained vacuum he had seen in several years.  I  vacuumed 3 times to get rid of my husbands’ tile dust and our HUGE cats’ pet hair!! (It’s been less than two weeks.)  I really missed my Dyson… and have to tell you it is the very best vacuum I’ve EVER owned!  It is now 6 years old and works like a dream!

Yesterday was really fun, I met with one of my downline, Eva and another side line Tee for a ‘play date’ – we made a couple cards, had a challenge, and talked business while growing our friendship and support circle…. OOOH  and I forgot to say, we feasted on Chinese Chicken Salad too, always a BIG hit at stamp camps!

Tomorrow I’m meeting with a lovely group of ladies at a local church to do a monthly 245 group (2 cards $5.00.. I bring all the supplies).  Most of the ladies are new stampers, and the cards are quite simple and perfect for make ‘n take sessions, I’ll be sharing them with you tomorrow too!

Don’t forget the new demo sign up special.. just $85.00 through August 31st.. what a DEAL!!  AND if you really want to find out more, you can meet me at the next Downline meeting at the Golden Corral Restaurant on Atlantic Blvd (jax) August 25th at 6pm… simply email me and let me know you’ll be attending, I’ll make sure to have a special gift for your too!

Can’t make it on the 25th?  How about Saturday the 29th?  Same place, 9am… just ask for Sharon… I’ll be facilitating a card making benefit for the Children’s Miracle Network, and really hope to see you there!

I am really looking forward to meeting you!

Stamping 411… Down line Swaps

I really meant to share these swaps last month… and just realized that I hadn’t!  These cards are from last month’s down line meeting/dinner and swap, and are based on a challenge/sketch from the Stamping 411 site.

Some of us got pretty creative with the sketch last month.  You’ve already seen the card which I made for the swap, so I made another one… can you guess which card is mine?

Did you guess which one was mine? Hmm… it was the one at the top of the second group of photos using the leaf image from Autumn Days stamp set!  Thanks for looking!

Sometimes we all need a little break!

This is such a busy time of year for many… teachers and kids back to school, traffic, and school zones.  Sometimes we all need just a little break.

Granted, I do not have little ones.. but of course am busy helping our daughter prepare for her forthcoming trip to Europe.  She’ll be gone for a whole YEAR… that will be really tough on me, she’s such a great friend and helper!  Our USAF son is soon to deploy once again to “country un-named” and will be gone too… but since he doesn’t live at home any more, it won’t be such a drastic change for us!

Yesterday, my DD and I spent the entire day re-organizing my stamp room.  It’s not done yet, I’ve got so much more to do.  The good news is that I will be offering Blog Candy in the next few weeks… treasures I’m letting go of.  So, please check back and be sure to enter for your chance to win!

My blogging through the next two weeks may become a bit sporadic as I help our DD prepare, and sort out so many treasures in my stamp room.  Please stand by, I’ll be back in full force soon with lots of samples and ideas too!

The Cutest Snow Girl On the Block!

I received a very cute convention swap from Lynn Wegleitner, a demonstrator from Minnesota… Lynn’s card was done with Bermuda Bay card stock, and the idea was definitely CASE worthy!

I’ve added snow to the background with my Signo White Gel pen, glitter to the snow-girl body, and of course changed the greeting, and accent color to Melon Mambo.  Isn’t this just the cutest quick Christmas card?

august102009 cbyu001

The snow-girl is made with 1 3/4”, 1 3/8” and 1 1/4” circle punches, an extra paper layer was torn and stamped/glittered for the front layer of snow.  Don’t you just love her?

We will make this card at Saturday’s stamp camp too… I’m looking forward to seeing you there!  Be sure to check my calendar/events for more classes, or simply contact me to host your own stampin’ up! party with friends!  We’re going to have so much fun!

Second Club Card… Partial CASE

I received a very pretty swap card at convention from Janace Carbonneau of Fullerton California… It was horizontally and utilized kraft, whisper white, and bordering blue cardstock… and a kraft bow too.  Just had to do a semi-case of her very pretty swap!  The stamp set is “friends 24-7” from the new Idea Book And Catalog.

Here, I’ve changed the orientation to vertical, the bow to a slit punch side way knot.. and the colors to soft suede, mellow moss, and very vanilla.   The masking makes this card quite terrific, and it goes together quite easily.

august102009 004

My card club ladies loved this quick and simple card… suitable for a friend, male or female.  I added a Very Vanilla 4” x 5.25” piece to the inside of the card for the message… isn’t it fun?

See you tomorrow!

Back in the Saddle… A Quick Card

It’s always an adjustment returning home after a week-long convention!  With many chores to get done, including unpacking, laundry and general housekeeping, imagine my surprise when my prized Dyson DC07 Animal Vacuum died!!  Luckily, it is repair-able, and I made the trip to the nearest authorized repair center today.  Cross your fingers that it won’t be too expensive, and quickly repaired too!  I’ve had the vacuum for about 8 years… it has lasted longer than any vacuum I’ve ever owned… so you’ll have to pardon the state of my carpets during camps and clubs through the next few days!

So… here is a quick card I made today using Garden Greetings, and Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Cameo Coral Card Stock cut at 7.5” x 5.5” and scored at 3.25”

  • Stamp two more smaller flowers with Regal Rose Classic Ink
  • Stamp flower stems with Old Olive Classic Ink
  • Tie bow of Old Olive narrow grosgrain ribbon, and affix to stamped image

Convention ‘09 Wings of Friendship

conventionlogo

I hope you’re not tired of my convention swaps… here’s another one!  This one uses the fabulous Hostess Level III Set “Wings Of Friendship”.  This set is free when you host a workshop or place an order of $500.00 or more!

quickcards_sas039-0 005 Stamps:

     Wings of Friendship (Free)

Card Stock:

     Very Vanilla (#101650 /$7.50)

     Crushed Curry (#115319 / $5.50)

Accessories:

Crushed Curry Grosgrain Ribbon (#115614 /$9.95)

     Circle Scissors Plus (#112530 /$29.95)

Scrap of Dark Cardstock or paper (Any Color) 5.5” x 5.5”

     Mini Glue Dots (#103683 /$4.95)

This was a fun swap that one of my Down-line (Eva) helped me make while we had lunch in a local restaurant a few weeks ago.

Card Cutting Instructions and Assembly Notes:

     Crushed Curry 4.25 x 5.5”

     Very Vanilla 5.25” x 8”, scored at 4”

  • I used my Circle Scissor Plus to cut a 3 3/8” circle from the scrap of cardstock.  The cardstock is larger than the card to protect all the areas you do not want to over-stamp.
  • The circle is then aligned with the front of the card and to the left side (hold up to a light to confirm the alignment).
  • Holding the circle in place with your hand (or with a temporary adhesive), stamp the bird first with Crushed Curry Ink, and then the flourish from the stamp set.  You will notice a small 1/8” margin all around the circle that does not get stamped… and that is ok!
  • Remove the circle protector, and stamp the greeting from the stamp set in the lower right corner of the card front.
  • Next, cut a  2.75” piece of ribbon and glue to the front/left of the card, wrapping appx. 1/4” around to the back.  I glued the ribbon with my tombow multi-adhesive (two way tape)
  • Tie a small bow, and affix to the bottom of the ribbon with a mini glue dot.
  • The large Crushed Curry piece is mounted on the back of the card fold-over for an accent of color.

I’ll have one more swap to share… and of course, pictures from Convention ‘09 too!

When I return home, I’m looking forward to sending you a special surprise to thank you for your online orders!  Place your online order ***HERE***

I’m also looking forward to all the fun we will have this month in classes, camps, and workshops!  Be sure to check out my CALENDAR OF EVENTS, and register early!

See you soon!

     Paradise (#113778 /$20.95)

     Heard from The Heart (# 111644 /$22.95)

Card Stock (8.5”  x 11”)

     Summer Sun (#103124 /  $5.50)

     Always Artichoke (#105119 / $5.50)

     Rich Razzleberry (#115316 /$5.50)

Classic Ink ($5.95 each):

     Rich Razzleberry (#115658)

     Always Artichoke (#105219)

     Crushed Curry (#115659)

Accessories:

     Stamping Sponges (#101610 /$3.50/3qty)

Rich Razzleberry PolkaDot Ribbon (#115613/$9.95 /15yds)

     Mini Glue Dots (#103683 /$3.95)

Card Cutting

  • Always Artichoke 4.25 x 11”, scored at 5.5”
  • Rich Razzleberry 5.25 x 4”
  • Summer Sun 5” x 3.75”

This was a very quick and simple card you can easily make!  One pack of each cardstock along with one roll of ribbon will easily yield 48 cards!

Directions:

  • Stamp the broad leaf image with Always Artichoke ink  randomly across the bottom 1/3 of the Summer Sun Card Stock.
  • Stamp the berry image using rich razzleberry ink, randomly between the artichoke leaf images.
  • Stamp greeting from Heard from the Heart stamp set across the top 1/3 of the card, slightly to the left.
  • Sponge Crushed Curry Ink onto stamped images and around edges of Summer Sun Cardstock
  • Layer Summer Sun stamped cardstock onto Rich Razzleberry layer using two way adhesive, or double sided tape.
  • Tie a knot in your Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot ribbon (closer to the loose end of the ribbon).  Turn so that polka dots are not shown and cut from roll so that you have enough ribbon to wrap around the edges of the cardstock layers.
  • Add a mini glue dot to the back of the knot, and two cut ends of the ribbon, and affix to card front layers.
  • Attach to card fold-over for a completed card!

Readers Choice Award & Convention ‘09

This is the first year Scrapbooks, etc. has held a Readers' Choice award, and Stampin' Up! has been recognized by the readers of Scrapbook, etc. as the Readers' Choice winner in the stamps category. Stampin’ Up! also received acknowledgement as runners-up in the following categories: card stock, eyelets, ribbon, markers, and ink. For more information, see the August/September issue of Scrapbooks, etc. (pages 34-38).

Will you be amongst the millions following the Stampin’ Up! 2009 Convention? Watch for this logo along your blog hoppin’ way… it will identify new convention posts on my blog as well as on others!

Here is just one of the MANY convention swaps I’ve made this year! It started out as my 5 minute swap card… but then I decided on another design!

conv_09_swap_ht_dp_slf

Stamps:

Happy Together (#114314/$14.95)

A Little Birthday Cheer (#115018/$13.95)

Markers:

In-Color Stampin’ Write Markers (#116329 / $17.95) Paper:

Whisper White 8.5 x 11” (#100730)

Crushed Curry 8.5 x 11” (#115319)

Melon Mambo 8.5 x 11” (#115320)

Bermuda Bay 8.5” x 11” (#115317)

Razzleberry Lemonade 12 x 12” (#115675)

Accessories:

1” Circle Punch (#109046)

1.25” Circle Punch (#104403)

Melon Mambo 1/2” Polka Dot Ribbon (#115611)

Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430)

One roll of the Polka Dot Ribbon has appx. 15 yards, and should yield appx. 60 cards as shown above (if you just used the ribbon as an accent and didn’t do a bow, you’d get more like 90 cards). Of course if you wanted to do more than 46 cards, you’d have to purchase two packs of the Crushed Curry Cardstock. (reserving one sheet for circle punches) The Designer Series Papers in the Razzleberry Lemonade come with two sheets of each design… many of the papers are interchangeable with the card as shown above, so one pack of DSP would do just fine!

Cutting for project as shown above:C

Crushed Curry Cardstock: 5.5” x 8.5” scored at 4.25”

Whisper White Cardstock: 4.25” x 5.25”

RazzleBerry Lemonade DSP: 1.25” x 4.25”

One 1.25” Punch each: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, and Bermuda Bay Cardstock

The stamps were all colored with the brush end of the Stampin’ Write In-Color Markers. Remember to stamp your little bird images onto Whisper White Cardstock before punching them… so much easier to line up!!

Place an online order during convention week, and I’ll send you a special surprise when I get home too! (Offer good only through Tuesday, August 11th)

RAK’s and Birthday Wishes!

Wow… July was such a crazy month for me!  August is starting off with a bang too.. I really need to get caught up!!  So today, I’m sharing a few RAK’s I received from old friends and new!  Not all the stamps are Stampin’ Up!  But they are all beautiful and unique, I’m sure you’ll love them all!

Do you recognize House Mouse?  This cutie was made by Esther.. I just LOVE the cheesy effect on this card, isn’t cute?

rak_jd_0709_cbyu

This is a birthday card I received from Nancy Horn, a Demonstrator in Jerome, Idaho… Lots of layers and pretty sale-a-bration paper.  The picture doesn’t do it justice, she’s paired certainly celery ribbon with a so saffron bow on the front of the card… What a nice surprise!!

rakfrontreese_cbyu0709

This pretty, pretty card is from my friend Tee (she made all the great changes to my blog recently).  I love the doodling she did on the DSP background… really adds a lot to the card.  This card really pops in person too.. she is so very talented!!

And, here’s a partial view of the inside.. It’s as lovely as the front!!

Tomorrow I will begin sharing my convention 2009 swaps… Look forward to hearing from you!

CHA Orlando & Splitcoast Stampers!

What a lovely surprise!!  Yesterday I made the trek to Orlando with my DD, and much to my surprise bumped into a few famous Splitcoasters!  Actually, the place was crawling with Splitcoasters.. and we just naturally congregated at the Splitcoaststampers booth with fabulous fun make ‘n takes at the Orange County Convention Center too!

splitcoasters_createdbyu_0801

OK… bad hair day for me.. got up at 5:30 am to travel to Orlando!  Perhaps you’ll recognize a few friendly faces in the photo, Beate to right, Lori Craig (stamp_momma) to my left… and Daven and Jenn too.  Of course, I’m the only one out of uniform too!

As for the rest of the CHA show… if you want to see/view some really great photos of just about every product available at the show, check out ShoppingDiva’sFlickrSite with over 1600 photos of all the great stuff the vendors were offering for sale …there was definitely a variety of craft items, projects, and make ‘n takes.  We got there early, so it wasn’t too crowded and we were able to see everything.

I ran into a few friendly faces from Jacksonville, Fl… and also missed a few that I planned on finding and meeting with.  Once it got really crowded, we left and opted for even more shopping at the outlets!  We are in a dire search for a suitable lightweight but very warm winter/convertible jacket to take my DD from Germany to Poland to China over the course of the next 14 months.   We don’t want the little girl from Florida is going to freeze in the cold weather!!  (And… a warm jacket can be really difficult to find in Florida!!)

Today is back to reality check time… must take more pictures of cards and things to post, and above all, must STAMP!!  See you tomorrow!

Off to CHA... OOOPS!!!

I totally forgot.. I'm off to CHA today!! This is the first time ever that the craft show has been opened to the public, and it just happens to be in nearby Orlando, Florida. So today I'm taking a field trip and learning all that I possibly can about new products, offerings, and techniques with the general masses.

A lot of my friends were able to go yesterday to this show.. and they have given me wonderful reports. I hope to come back with lots of ideas to share too.

For those who may not know, the CHA is the Crafts and Hobby Association. For many years it has been open only to vendors and buyers. The show promotes new products, techniques, mediums, and much more. I hope to come back with a fountain of knowledge.

It's a lot to do right on top of convention... but it's just a couple hours away, who could resist!!!

See you tomorrow..
Hugs..
