Quick and Cute… Swap Card

Happy Together is such a sweet little stamp set…  you saw me use it yesterday on my exploding chocolate box, kite card, and also on my gift card purse (Wednesday’s post).

Here’s another quick and cute 5 minute card I made using this inexpensive little stamp set “Happy Together” item 114314(only $14.95).

quickcards_sas039-0 001 The DSP on this card is Razzleberry Lemonade, which I have accented with So Saffron and Dusty Durango.  The “Happy Birthday” does not come with the set, and was borrowed from “A Little Birthday Cheer” # 115018 $13.95.

  • The Vanilla Card stock fold over 4.25” x 10.75”, scored at 5 1/2”.
  • The scallop edge punch was used on the shorter flap, and then a 3/4”x 4.25” piece of dusty durango cardstock was added just inside the flap to give just a touch of color.
  • Razzleberry lemonade: 4.25 x 1.25”
  • So Saffron 4.25” x 1.5”, attached to Razzleberry lemonade and then to the card
  • Stamped the flower 3 times on VV Cardstock and punched with 1” circle punch
  • Punched 3 1.25” Dusty Durango Circles and attached to the back of the flowers
  • Added Rose Red Brads to flower centers
  • Attached to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Stamped three bird image and greeting with Dusty Durango Classic Ink

Very quick and cute…  Hope you liked the card, see you tomorrow with something more than just a 5 minute card… hmmm

Chocolate Nugget Explosion Box Tutorial AND Blog Candy Winner

TODAY is my birthday…. and to celebrate, I’m sharing this nugget box tutorial AND announcing the blog candy winner from the Royal Blog Tour earlier this week! Are you ready??? The blog candy winner is…..

JANINE VERSTER

i have already emailed Janine with the news… and for the rest of you wonderful people who commented and shared all your best birthdays, I’m sharing a second tutorial this week.

I have made this Exploding Nugget box so many times… Often as a wedding favor and/or party favor. It’s always a hit!

Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets: Happy Together
  • Inks: Melon Mambo
  • Paper: Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Thoroughly Modern DSP
  • Other: Scallop Square Punch, Crop-A-Dile Tool, Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon, Tombow Multi Adhesive

Cardstock Measurements:

Melon Mambo

3 ½” x 5” scored at 1” on all 4 sides

1 5/8” x 1 5/8” square

Bermuda Bay

3 1/8” x 4 5/8” scored at ¾” on each of 4 sides

Whisper White

1” x 3” for inside of box (message)

Small Scrap for Scallop Square Punch

Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper

(6) 1” x 3 ¼” strips to wrap nuggets

2 7/8” x 1 3/8” for lid decoration

Instructions:

Fold on all scored lines of the Melon Mambo Cardstock.

Score each corner of Melon Mambo rectangle from the outside corner to the 1st intersection. Pushed the scored angular lines towards the inside of the box.

Stamp and decorate the 1x3 rectangle, adhere to inside of box bottom

Fold along all scored lines of Bermuda Bay Cardstock and then clip into corners to scored line on each 3 1/8” end. I like to notch mine by cutting a little more into the flap. Fold tabs inward, glue in place with Tombow Multi Adhesive

Glue larger DSP rectangle to the top of box lid.
Wrap 6 Nuggets with DSP, and glue with Tombow Multi Adhesive.
Stamp and punch décor for lid using the Scallop Square Punch.
Corner-round all corners of the 1 5/8” Melon Mambo Square.
Glue the two layers together, and then use the Crop-A-Dile to punch a 1/8” hole in two corners of the square assembly.
Cut 6” of Melon Mambo Polka Dot ribbon, thread through holes, and glue ends to back of square assembly.
TIP: Try wrapping the ribbon and square upside down (inside out) around the box… pull snuggly and glue ribbons in place. Simply slip off box, turn the décor to the outside and slip back around the box.

Have a really great day, hope to hear from you really soon!

Gift Card Holder Purse Tutorial

The little Gift Card Holder purse was so popular in the summer Royal Blog Tour, I decided to make another one! The original purse can seen on my July 25th RBC Tour Post HERE. And, as promised, here is the tutorial to make the purse too!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets: Happy Together, A Little Birthday Cheer
  • Inks: Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay
  • Paper: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Thoroughly Modern DSP
  • Other: Punches (1”, 1 ¼”, corner rounder, scallop edge, word window), Mat Pack and Piercing Tool, Polka Dot Ribbon (Bermuda Bay), Filigree Brads, Silver Brads, Signo White Gel Pen, Stampin’ Dimensionals, magnetic or Velcro closure, paper trimmer with scoring and cutting blades, crop-a-dile tool

Cardstock Measurements:

Bermuda Bay Card Stock:

10 7/8” x 4 ¼”, scored at 4”, 8” and 9 ½”

Whisper White Card Stock:

7 ½” x 4” scored at 3 ¾”

3 ¾” x 3 ½”

Scraps for Punching/Stamping (3) 1” flower

Melon Mambo Card Stock: 4” x 3 ¾”,3 ½” x ¾” strip, & Scraps for Punching 1 ¼” circles (3)

Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper: 3.5" x 1 -3/8”

Instructions:

  1. Fold the Bermuda Bay Card Stock on the 4” scored line so that the t wo 4” halves are facing one another.
  2. Place the fold in the channel of your paper trimmer, and the next scored line (8”) at the ½” line on your paper trimmer. Cut through both layers but not past the 8” scored line.

The 4” folded edge is shown at the top, and aligned in the channel of the cutter. The 8” scored line is shown aligned with the 1/2” mark on the paper trimmer… You will cut through both layers of cardstock to form the angled purse edge.

Here is another photo/view of how the cut looks… cut through both layers and up to the 8” score mark.. but not through it. The flap must be cut separately. Repeat for both sides of the purse.

3. Fold the (top) flap piece under at the scored line (towards the inside of the purse). The flap has a double layer to make it sturdier and to hide the brad prongs (future step).

In this photo, I turned the purse upside down onto the flap… the folded edge you see is the top of the purse. I’ve used a white gel pen to draw a line transferring the shape of the purse to the flap/fold-over so that you can see it better.

4. Holding all four cardstock layers together and use your paper snips to cut on the line, or follow the shape of the purse and form the flap. You will be cutting through both folded flap layers at once, repeat for other side of the purse.

5. Unfold the cardstock, and you will now have a shape like this:

6. Now cut the Melon Mambo Card Stock for the purse. Position in the trimmer so that the 4” side is horizontally aligned and the 3 ¾” sides are vertically aligned. Place the bottom (4”) edge in the cutting channel of the trimmer, andposition the top edge on the ½” line of the trimmer. Repeat for opposite side. (picture does not show correct color)

7. Trim the smaller piece of Whisper White Cardstock as in step 4, aligning the 3 ¾” edge horizontally on the paper trimmer with lower corner in the cutting channel and the top corner at the ½” mark. (the 3 ½” side is vertically aligned).

8. Fold the long piece of Whisper White Cardstock in half. With the 4” edge positioned horizontally, align the folded edge in the channel of the cutter, and top edge at the ½” line. Repeat for other side.

9. Unfold the cardstock, and punch with the word window punch (the punch should be pushed all the way into the cardstock piece, and positioned appx. 1/8” from the side edge of the card stock. Move the punch over so that it is 1/8” from other side, and punch again.

10. Cut the DSP by aligning one long edge in the channel of the cutter, and the other long edge at the ¼” mark.

clip_image017[3]

10. Set the crop-a-dile tool slide at ¾” and punch 1/8” holes in the flap fold of the purse.

11. Cut appx. 8” of ribbon for the handle, and thread through the holes you just made. Tape the ribbon ends down between the flap layers.

12. Fold the top flap layers together, and use a corner rounder on the bottom of the flap corners.

11. Use the mat pack to position your closure detail (in this case a filigree brad). With the flap layers folded together, pierce a hole where you want the brad to be. Piercing through both layers will leave a mark for placement of you Velcro or Magnetic closure when finishing the bag.

clip_image019[3]

12. Use the Scallop Edge Punch along the edge of the smallest strip of Melon Mambo Cardstock, align with the bottom edge of the flap, and glue to bottom edge. Use a white Signo Gel Pen to add decoration to scallop edge if desired.

13. Stamp, punch, pierce, decorate layers and assemble your purse, and add a Velcro or Magnetic Closure.

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial.. and that you make plenty of these purses! Thanks again for visiting my blog too! I'll be posting the blog candy winners' name tomorrow (on my actual birthday)... I hope YOU win!

    Circle Circus in Classic B&W

If I didn’t scare you away yesterday with my Shabby Chic cards… thanks for hanging around!  As promised, today I’ll be returning to a more classic style of card making using the Circle Circus Stamp Set (#115778 / 10 pcs. /$28.95).

    circlecbyucircus4844

The focal image is actually stamped three times and then punched with the scallop circle punch, 1 3/8” circle punch, and finally 1” punch.  I  borrowed “thinking of you” from my Kind and Caring Thoughts Hostess Level 3 stamp set… but m ay change up the greetings when we do this in next Saturdays Stamp A Stack… you’ll get to pick your own appropriate greeting.

    circlecircus4855cbyu

I love the new Modern Label Punch… it was used to punch out the “Teeny Tiny Wishes” greeting on this card after it was stamped.  The New matching Magnetic Movers & Shapers Die was used to punch the black background piece.  Eyelets and a touch of ribbon complete the card!  This would make a fabulous set of note cards as a gift for a friend, wouldn’t it?

    quickcards_sas039-0 005

Just playing around, trying to come up with some convention swaps… I’ve actually agreed to participate in 3 organized swaps at this point… this is one card I was thinking of doing for the 5 minute card swap.. but am worried everyone will be tired of the Wings of Friendship stamp set by the time August rolls around!  What do you think?  I’ll probably use it for a stamp-a-stack class I’ve got scheduled… It is a very quick and pretty card,we’ll see.

Next week is our group Down Line Meeting and Swap, and we’ll be using a sketch from Stamping411… I changed it up a bit (yes.. against the swap rules) but came up with this pretty, simple card which was fun to make.  The little So Saffron floral brads are a nice touch to this simple and quick card… Crushed Curry is beginning to grow on me (I’m about to run out of it after all!)

    Cardstock:  Whisper White, Crushed Curry

Stamps:  Wings of Friendship (hostess lvl 3)

Accessories:  1” and 1 1/4” circle punch, circle cutter plus, crushed curry polka dot ribbon, and floral brads.

Now that I have finished my projects for the Royal Blog Tour on July 26th, 27th and 28th, I cannot wait for you to see them!! It’s just over a week away, and I know you’re going to love the projects I’ll be sharing!!

Off to Stamp Land… See you tomorrow!

    July’s Third Thursday 245 Stampers

On the third Thursday of each month, I meet with a lovely group of ladies to do two cards for $5.00 (245 stampers).  Many of these ladies have never stamped before and therefore have no stamping supplies or adhesive.  So, I bring everything along.. and we have a fun time making quick and simple cards!

This is the first card we made, using the Circle Circus Stamp Set Item #115778 / 10 stamp set / $28.95).

    blogtourjuly2009 017

Cardstock:  Barely Banana, Very Vanilla, Only Orange

Classic Inks:  Barely Banana, Only Orange

Stamps Circle Circus, Short & Sweet

Accessories:  Circle Cutter Plus, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 1/8” punch, scallop edge punch, stampin’ dimensionals

Cut Barely Banana Cardstock 4 1/4” x 10” and then score at 5 1/2”.  Use scallop edge punch on the shorter side of the card to give it a frilly and fresh look.

    Cut Only Orange cardstock:  4  1/4” x

5  7/16”” and 5/8” x 4 1/4”.  After stamping the random circle circus images all over the barely banana card front, simply slip the only orange layer inside and butt to the folded edge.  Open just the barely banana card front and apply adhesive just the the back side of the barely banana card front… Shut the card and everything will be stuck in exactly right place!

Very Vanilla Cardstock cut at 1/3” x 4 1/4” and stamped in Only Orange with “thank you”… scraps are used for the remaining parts of the card!

Here’s the second card we did using the ‘glitter window’ technique… using the Garden Whimsy stamp set (#113502 / set of 8 stamps / $26.95) … and a case of a convention swap I received last year!

    blogtourjuly2009 016

The original card was done in pinks and reds… I decided to do it in Lavender Lace and Almost Amethyst for a nice summery look.

Card Stock:  Almost Amethyst, Lavender Lace, Whisper White

    Classic Ink: Lavender Lace

Accessories:  Organza Ribbon, 1 3/8” circle punch, scallop circle punch, mini glue dots, dazzling diamonds, packaging tape, Old Olive and Lavender Lace Stampin’ Write Markers.

Last night I received a surprise phone call from one of my 245 Senior Stampers… letting me know Ruth changed our group schedule again without telling me… aughhhh!!!!  Instead of the last Friday of the month, she moved our group meeting to the 4th Friday (July 24th).   So, I guess I’ll be there a week early… or perhaps for both Fridays!  We’ll be doing these same 245 cards… so now you’ve had a sneak peek too!

The Royal Blog Tour is next weekend too!  Hard to believe it’s almost here!! I’ve got some great samples for you… and another surprise too!

    Melon Mambo Quickies

When the new Stampin’ Up! In-Colors were introduced July 1st, Soft Suede became one of my immediate favorites.  Now, Melon Mambo is quickly encroaching upon that “favorite” status too.  The bright pink color is so fresh and fun… crisp and bright… so I’ve resigned myself (now) to two favorites!

These are two quick card creations, using the hostess level three set “Kind and Caring Thoughts” and the gorgeous and beautiful new Medallion stamp (Item 115223 $17.95)… talk about a quick card!!

     blogtourjuly2009 006

The DSP on this card is Razzleberry Lemonade, and the ribbon is Melon Mambo Polka Dot Grosgrain.  Isn’t it fun?

One more quick card share today… this one using the fabulous Medallion Stamp Set!  I added a not quite navy backing to this card, and the cute little flower  assortment brad… these are not those flimsy brads you find in the local craft store!  They’re really durable and strong!  (Item #112583 / 32 pieces in 4 colors $8.95)

Are you ready for the Royal Blog Tour?  It’s only 10 days away!  I’ve worked up some great samples and surprises, hope you’ll come along for the ride!

Wrapping it up… last of the 6x6 “Sweet Desserts” Scrapbook Recipe Pages

Thanks to everyone who came out to meet me at Bucklers!  I hope to see you soon in my classes, clubs, and workshops!  We’re going to have so much fun!

Today, I’m sharing the last of the 6x6 Sweet Desserts scrapbook page swaps… and then back to business as usual!  I began posting them on Friday… so if you want to pick up from the beginning, check out THIS POST from Friday!  I’ll be back tomorrow with more of my own original work… and thanks for stopping by!

Fun and colorful “Old Fashion Apple Dumplings” from Bethany Keeney.  Gosh, I love apple dumplings… and this can’t be too bad for a diet, right?  It’s only apples, after all!  Aren’t the little punched apples cute?

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 018

Key Lime Cake from Krista Rill… another fun page, with bright colors and a great recipe too!  Krista was the over-worked swap hostess… I bow to her patience!

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 009

Earthquake Cake (with yummy coconuts and pecans… it’s got to taste wonderful)… :( But, no name on this swap!

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 013

A very pretty Millionaire Pie Page from Sue Stout.  Looking at this again, I see Sue typed her name and City/State on the recipe page too.. one more great idea I will use in future swap!

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 016

And a fabulous page from Kimberly Moorhouse with a recipe for Cherry Cobbler (YUMMY!).  Kim used Crystal Effects on the cherries in the lower left corner, and they look almost good enough to eat!

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 017

I hope you enjoyed the 6x6 scrapbook/recipe swap shares… many of these ladies will be on the Royal Blog Tour with me at the end of the month.. You’ll want to see more of their great work!  You can click on the tour image in the upper right corner of my blog if you’d like to sign up to ride along, or post a link on your own blog!   Back tomorrow with new shares!

More Sweet Desserts Recipe 6x6 Swap Shares

Today I’ll be at the Bucklers’ Craft Show at the Jacksonville Fair Grounds from 10am –5pm... Please stop by and say hi!

Continuing from yesterday’s post… such great ideas and yummy recipes!  I guess I’ve become a swap convert… perhaps after I finish all my convention swaps!

From Dianna S. Mooncake, hidden pockets and more!  This is a really fun page and recipe using your choice of pudding flavors… the pull-out is a fabulous way to record your favorite flavors too!

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 015

An unknown participant… I believe the recipe may have shifted in the mail… I tried to move it and realign but it is really stuck to the page!  The recipe is for Nanaimo Bars.  I’ve never heard of them but they sound VERY yummy!

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 007

Toffee-Coffee Brownies from Felicia A. Bloom (just throw my diet out the window)

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 008

Bonnie Olson’s Rocky Road Cookie Bars (I am in so much trouble here!).  This is a really great idea… Bonnie added a stamped piece of window sheet to protect/cover the recipe and add add dimension to the swap too!

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 006

One more today… Cherries for Easy Cherry Cobbler from Ethleen which was inspired by Gretchen Barron

    6x6swaps2009junecbyu 003

5 more 6x6 recipe swaps coming up tomorrow… and then back to business as usual!!
